Pittsburgh Steelers 2011 Schedule: Very Early Look at Game-by-Game Predictions
The Pittsburgh Steelers ended last season with a disappointing loss to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV.
We Steelers fans do not deal with losing well, and the team goes into this upcoming season with even higher expectations to win it all.
The NFL recently released their regular season schedules, and the Steelers schedule looks to have some tough games.
Even though we are a long way away from actual games starting, here is a game-by-game prediction with scores for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2011 season.
Week 1
1 of 18
Sunday, September 11
1:00 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 24-10
The Steelers vs. the Ravens is the best rivalry in the NFL and always a must-see game during the season.
Even though both teams have great defenses, I see the Ravens defense struggling in Week 1 and the Steelers offense getting off to a good start.
Steelers Record: 1-0
Week 2
2 of 18
vs. Seattle Seahawks
Sunday, September 18
1:00 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 17-3
The Steelers defense shuts down the Seahawks running game and whatever quarterback Seattle puts behind center.
The offense looks a little sluggish, however. Rashard Mendenhall carries the load and the Steelers get win number two on the season.
Steelers Record: 2-0
Week 3
3 of 18
Sunday, September 25
8:20 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 27-21
Ben Roethlisberger and Peyton Manning air it out all over the field with Roethlisberger getting the final touchdown to win the game.
The Steelers defense gives up some yards, but also gets to Manning a few times and doesn’t let him get too comfortable.
Steelers Record: 3-0
Week 4
4 of 18
Sunday, October 2
1:00 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 34-17
The Steelers come in on a roll, and this is the strongest the offense has looked all season, with both Roethlisberger and Mendenhall putting up big numbers.
I give the Texans a lot of credit for the team they have put together, yet the Steelers are just in another class and cruise to a double-digit win.
Steelers Record: 4-0
Week 5
5 of 18
vs. Tennessee Titans
Sunday, October 9
1:00 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 13-9
After rolling through the first few weeks, the Steelers offense has an off day and can only manage one touchdown.
The defense, however, shuts down Chris Johnson again and keeps the struggling Titans offense to only three field goals.
Steelers Record: 5-0
Week 6
6 of 18
Sunday, October 16
1:00 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 24-13
The Steelers offense gets back on track against a Jacksonville defense that struggles to put much, if any pressure on Ben Roethlisberger.
Pittsburgh’s defense shuts down yet another top running back in Maurice Jones-Drew and picks off David Garrard a couple times.
Steelers Record: 6-0
Week 7
7 of 18
Sunday, October 23
4:05 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 37-17
Whether it is through the air, on the ground or even on defense, the Steelers have no trouble going through Arizona’s defense.
The Cardinals continue to struggle without Kurt Warner and don’t even manage to gain over 100 total yards in the game.
Steelers Record: 7-0
Week 8
8 of 18
Sunday, October 30
4:15 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 35-34
Tom Brady may have torched the Steelers defense last season, but that was last season and Lamar Woodley and James Harrison live in the Patriots backfield in this matchup.
Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense light up Heinz Field, and both Hines Ward and Mike Wallace go for over 100 yards.
Steelers Record: 8-0
Week 9
9 of 18
vs. Baltimore Ravens
Sunday November 6
8:20 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 14-7
This is round two for the Steelers and Ravens. This game will be exactly as advertised with hard hitting and low scoring.
Rashard Mendenhall may not reach 100 yards, but he does score both of the Steelers touchdowns and Joe Flacco continues to go winless against Ben Roethlisberger.
Steelers Record: 9-0
Week 10
10 of 18
Sunday, November 13
1:00 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 34-13
The Bengals franchise is a complete mess and could already be looking forward to next season by Week 10.
Carson Palmer laughs on his couch while the Steelers defense picks off whichever Bengals quarterback is out there at least four times.
Steelers Record: 10-0
Week 11
11 of 18
BYE WEEK
Sitting at 10-0, the Pittsburgh Steelers are in great position for a playoff push and get a much-needed rest.
They continue to sport the league’s best defense, and Ben Roethlisberger quarterbacks one of the most potent offenses in the NFL.
Week 12
12 of 18
Sunday, November 27
8:20 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 27-14
The whole Steelers team comes out of the bye week prepared, and the defense does not let Jamaal Charles hit the big play.
Matt Cassell has a bad day and throws three interceptions, with one being returned for a touchdown by Troy Polamalu.
Steelers Record: 11-0
Week 13
13 of 18
vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday, December 4
1:00 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 21-17
After being blown out in the first game, the Bengals actually keep this game close. However, they make just enough mistakes for the Steelers to come away with the victory.
The Steelers offense doesn’t look as good as recent weeks, although Rashard Mendenhall runs all over the Bengals defense.
Steelers Record: 12-0
Week 14
14 of 18
vs. Cleveland Browns
Thursday, December 8
8:20 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 19-10
The Cleveland Browns prove to be a much tougher matchup than most would give them credit for, but the Steelers still have enough on the offensive side of the ball to get the win.
Colt McCoy keeps the Browns in the game, but two Troy Polamalu interceptions shut the door and the Steelers run the clock out.
Steelers Record: 13-0
Week 15
15 of 18
Monday, December 19
8:30 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 24-21
I think the 49ers will actually surprise some people next season and will give the Steelers a fight all the way to the final minutes.
In the end, Ben Roethlisberger leads the offense down the field for a game-winning touchdown pass to Hines Ward.
Steelers Record: 14-0
Week 16
16 of 18
vs. St. Louis Rams
Saturday, December 24
1:00 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 37-27
Sam Bradford leads the Rams to a halftime victory, but Ben Roethlisberger comes out firing in the second half and throws for over 400 yards in the game.
Although the defense gives up a bunch of yards and points, the Steelers get good games from Lamar Woodley and Ike Taylor, who both record two sacks each.
Steelers Record: 15-0
Week 17
17 of 18
At Cleveland Browns
Sunday, January 1
1:00 PM
Prediction: Steelers Win 21-10
The Steelers do not have much to play for in this game against the Browns, however, it is still a divisional game and the team needs to go into the playoffs on a roll.
With many starters being pulled after the first quarter, the offense struggles, but the Steelers defense still suffocates the Browns, forcing three turnovers.
Steelers Record: 16-0
In Conclusion
18 of 18
The Pittsburgh Steelers become the second franchise to go 16-0 in the regular season on the backs of a dominant defense and an MVP-caliber season by Ben Roethlisberger.
The team runs through the playoffs and avenges last year’s Super Bowl loss to the Green Bay Packers by hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
GO STEELERS!
