Arnesen On A Mission To Raid Barca

According to recent reports, Chelsea are planning a bit of a raid on Barcelona.

First up is 17 year old Guy Assulin, an Israeli international who both Manchester United and Arsenal have apparently targeted. The attacking midfielder has already drawn comparisons with Lionel Messi and has attracted enough attention for Arnesen’s right hand man Hans Gillhaus to hot-foot it over to the Nou Camp to have a chat about a possible deal in January.

The Spanish club have already put a whopping £15.6million price tag on the youngster’s head but it’s suggested the eventual price could end up about a quarter of that. But, with Assulin able to play anywhere across the frontline and providing Barca’s B side with 9 goals from his 25 performances so far, I’d suggest a quarter might be a conservative estimate.

Anyway, not done there, Chelsea are also hoping to tempt Rafa, Gerard Deulofeu and 16 year old Thiago Alcantara away from the Nou Camp. Alcantara is another youngster yet to sign a deal with Barcelona and despite interest from both AC Milan and Real Madrid, the midfielder’s father – Brazil World Cup winner Mazinho – is reported to have spoken to Arnesen already about a potential move.
