EPL Managers Running Scared From Ashley's Magpies

Andrew GowlandJan 15, 2008

It's little wonder why Newcastle seem so hard pushed to entice a manager onto Tyneside, trigger happy board members and impatient fans have culminated in the past to provide sackings galore. However now, hybrid Mike Ashley combines the two characteristics and looks set to break records, as well as careers. It seems evident that no manager in the premiership, aware of their reputation and 'legacy' will go near the place. Constantly a hotbed of specuation, allegations and secret conversations in which the manager is the last person to know he's been sacked.

There was a clear break down in communication, with Allardyce being sacked just a day before the supposed completion of the Lassans Diarra transfer. Surely everybody knows that the worst time to have a stupid, rich, fat mag in charge is right in the middle of the transfer window, when any managers who do come in will have no time to assess the players and decide where needs strengthening and who needs kicking out, or locking up in Joey Barton's case.

Newcastle seems the very reason whyย a fan should not buy a football club. Indeed, Elton John and Delia Smith have both done a far better job that Mike Ashley at owning clubs. Perhaps he should ask Delia for some tips on healthy eating also.

Not just content with smashing manager's careers and dreams he, along with most of Tyneside are intent on villainising they're only hero. Putting Alan Shearer in charge of the club will only lead to everything he ever achieved as a player being wiped from the fans' minds as he steers them towards relegation. Everybody knows they're desparate and shaking like a shitting dog, wondering where the next manager will come from, with ridiculous sums of money being thrown around for salaries, only to have to all be paid out in compensation eight months down the line when then next victim is sacked for not winning the premier league.

The biggest problem Newcastle fans have is seeing their club realistically, they need to learn that they will not beat every team in the league 7-0 week in, week out. I seemed thathad turned a corner installing Sam Allardyce, a slow worker, but a fantastic manager, now however, it seems they've slammed the breaks on and are reversing all the way back down the M25.

With one of these over optomistic fans in charge, there's no telling what state they'll be in or how many managers they'll have had by this time next season.
