NFL Draft 2011: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Mock Draft Part II

Tom EdringtonApr 19, 2011

While the Buccaneers FINALLY admitted that they're going to play in London against the Bears, we have more serious work to do.

For your comment and consumption we present Part II of a mockup of the Buccaneer draft with the picks they have going into the selection show that is now less than 10 days away.

First Round, 20th pick: Akeem Ayers, linebacker, UCLA (6'4", 253)

Comment: Okay, here's the dilemma: Do you take the fifth-best defensive end or the second-best linebacker? The Buccaneers like Ayers. He's an incredible athlete, a gifted physical specimen. This guy is a HITTER. He takes on runners with bad intentions. With his body and size, he can play outside linebacker as well as defensive end on third-down passing situations.

Second Round, 51st pick: Jabaal Sheard, defensive end, Pittsburgh (6'4", 260)

Comment: He may not be here in the second round, but if he is, he'd be a great selection. Powerful guy with great hands, knows how to get to the football.

Third Round, 84th pick: Jordan Cameron, tight end, USC (6'5", 235)

Comment: Rated by many as one of the top three tight ends in the draft. Might be a bit of a reach as a third-rounder, however. Big target, good hands. Another weapon for Josh Freeman.

Fourth Round, 116th pick: Taiwan Jones, running back, Eastern Washington (6'1", 200)

Comment: Perfect third-down back. Breakaway speed, good hands. Not great running inside but a threat on the outside, capable of being a big-play guy.

Fifth Round, 151st pick: Pierre Allen, defensive end, Nebraska (6'5", 265)

Comment: Wouldn't compete for a starting job but could be a good guy as a rotational player. Probably better than some on the roster right now.

Sixth Round, 187th pick: Lester Jean, wide receiver, Florida Atlantic (6'3", 195)

Comment: If you saw FAU play, you'd notice this guy. Good receiver who can make big plays and make the big catch. Good hands. Good size and speed.

Seventh Round, 222nd pick: Colin McCarthy, linebacker, Miami (6'3", 240)

Comment: Just imagine a bigger, stronger version of Barrett Ruud who can stop a runner cold and plug a hole. Has a great motor. Not great at covering running backs out of the backfield.

Seventh Round, 238th pick: John Moffitt, offensive guard, Wisconsin (6'5", 323)

Comment: Could add needed depth to offensive line. If he's from 'Sconsin, you know he can run-block.

There you have it—eight more picks from the factory to chew on. We'll be back with more later.
