Arsene Wenger Needs Arsenal Supporters More Than Ever
In a world which demands immediate success, it is not surprising that some Arsenal fans are calling for the sacking of Arsene Wenger.
The sacking of Arsene Wenger is not only asinine, but also it is not the solution to the problem at Arsenal. In many ways, Arsene Wenger has become a victim of his early triumphs since Arsenal fans have become accustomed to the kind of success that made him not only a legendary manager at Arsenal but also a footballing genius. It is easy to forget that Arsene Wenger has revolutionized the club in tremendous fashion.
Since his arrival in 1996, Arsenal has undergone a remarkable transition from one the top clubs in England to one of the most recognized football clubs in the world.
In his first full season, he masterminded the double wining of the Premier League and FA Cup in historic fashion, and in the '03-'04 season he made history by becoming the first manager in over 100 years to lead a team that was undefeated in the Premier League.
He completely enhanced the football culture at Arsenal by changing training methods, emphasizing that his players eat a healthy diet and abstain from the drinking culture inherent in England, while instituting methods to improve the mental state of his player as well as a whole list of changes.
Perhaps his biggest at Arsenal was the transition from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium, which has become the finest football stadium in the world with its state-of-the-art facilities. Not only that, he was responsible for the breathtaking football that a lot of Arsenal fans and football purists the world over enjoyed for many years and still enjoy to some extent even today.
He signed the likes of Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, Marc Overmars, Cesc Fabregas and a whole list of players and turned them into superstars with his training methods and football philosophy.
Now, Arsenal are in the midst of a period of unprincipled failure for almost six years that has seen some supporters begin to turn on the one manager that has brought a lot of joy and excitement to their daily lives on and off the football pitch.
Yes, Arsene Wenger may have made some errors in judgement, but that does not make him a bad manager overnight. If you even add the fact that Arsenal spend the least amount of money on players amongst their main rivals, it is beyond belief that year after year they continue to play Champions League football even with the youngest team on average in Europe.
With a few tweaks in his squad over the coming months this team will conquer England and Europe in years to come, because there is an amazing group of talented players at his disposal. At this time of great misery and bad luck, Arsene Wenger needs his fans to keep the faith and be patient for glory is on the horizon.
