Jordy McElroyApr 17, 2011

Gina "Conviction" Carano, who is often considered the "face of women's MMA," will make her anticipated Strikeforce return on June 18 against Brazilian jiu-jitsu artist Sarah D'Alelio.

Non Stop WMMA broke the news on Saturday.

Since losing to women's middleweight champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos in August of 2009, Carano has taken an extended hiatus from fighting to shoot the upcoming summer film Haywire.

She announced her MMA return in February at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva.

This will be Carano's first professional bout under the tutelage of Greg Jackson, who she recently joined after leaving Xtreme Couture for undisclosed reasons.

With a record of 4-1, D'Alelio enters this bout coming off a loss to Julie Kedzie at Jackson's MMA Series 3 in December of 2010.

Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum will take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

The main event features the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix quarterfinal bout between heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Werdum.

In the co-main event, former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett takes on Brett Rogers.
