Fantasy Football Week 6 Rankings: Wide Receivers

Michael WhooleyOct 8, 2008

Week 5 saw Randy Moss and Andre Johnson play up to their fantasy potential as both wide receivers had 17+ fantasy points. Will week 6 be more of the same with Braylon Edwards and Torry Holt? Can Santana Moss bounce back after his week 5 outing that yielded 0 catches and left him behind brother Sinorice in fantasy production for the week? Will Larry Fitzgerald once again be ok without Anquan Boldin on the opposite side of the field? Is Isaac Brucegoing to continue to teach these young whipper snapper cornerbacks a lesson? How will Plaxico Burress' return to the line-up effect the value of the rest of the Giants' wide receivers?

Find out answers to all these questions and more in the Fantasy Football Week 6 Wide Receiver Rankings.

1. Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals) vs. Dallas

The absence of Anquan Boldin did cause a dip in Fitz's yardage production in week 5 as constant double teams prevented the stud wideout from breaking off any long gains, leaving him with just 52 yards on the day; however, those double teams couldn't prevent Fitz from catching the ball in the endzone, something he did twice in week 5. Fitz now has 4 straight double digit fantasy outings and a 5th should be on the way as the Cardinals air it out against the Cowboys in week 6.
Point Projection: 18 points

2. Terrell Owens (Dallas Cowboys) @ Arizona

17 targets in week 4 for a total of 14 fantasy points. 3 targets in week 5 for a total of 12 fantasy points. Sometimes, T.O, it's not the number of targets you get, but what you do with them that matters. T.O. should do plenty with the opportunities he gets in week 6 as he faces an Arizona Cardinals pass D that has given up 9 TDs on the year.
Point Projection: 17 points

3. Randy Moss (New England Patriots) @ San Diego

The Bruno Boys predicted that the Patriots would use the bye to figure out how to get Moss the ball, and we were right on, as Moss hauled in 5 catches for 111 yards, including a 66-yard score against the 49ers this past week. The outing has to ease Moss' owners' fears that the wide out would revert to his Oakland Raider form with Matt Cassel under center. Expect another big day as Moss matches-up against the worst pass defense in the league according to the statistics.
Point Projection: 17 points

4. Greg Jennings (Green Bay Packers) @ Seattle

Don't look now, but it appears Jennings may have found that knack for the endzone that made him so popular in fantasy circles in 2007. After going without a TD during the first 3 weeks of the season, Jennings has crossed the goal-line 3 times in the Packers' last two games. The streak continues against a Seahawks secondary that ranks 25th in the league against the pass.
Point Projection: 16 points

5. Brandon Marshall (Denver Broncos) vs. Jacksonville

A Broncos' wide receiver with the name of Brandon did reach double digit fantasy points in week 5; unfortunately, for Marshall's owners it was Brandon Stokley that got the job done against the Bucs. Still, we don't expect to hear a lot of complaining out of Marshall's owners. Despite the poor showing in week 5, Marshall still occupies the number 1 receiving spot on a high octane offense and will have more good games than bad ones.
Point Projection: 16 points

6. TJ Houshmandzadeh (Cincinnati Bengals) @ New York Jets

With Housh catching two more Carson Palmer TDs in the Bengals valiant effort against the Dallas Cowboys in week 5, it's obvious he's the go-to receiver for the QB. Over 5 weeks of play, Housh has received 19 more targets (48-29) than Ocho Cinco, and if he gets anywhere near the 9.8 looks he's averaging a game, he should have no problem being productive against the Jets and their 31st ranked pass defense.
Point Projection: 15 points
