Fantasy Football's Week Six Waiver Wire Gems
By Garth Gregor.
Fantasy Football's Week 6 Waiver Wire pick ups are here! The wire picks are players who are or were still available in most leagues this week. Depending on how your waiver wire/free agents’ pool works, players may not clear waivers until later this week.
Most players should not be trusted to start in week six unless your draft really went poorly.
Instead, these players should be monitored or stashed away on your bench for bye weeks’ use or a future starting spot consideration.
QUARTERBACKS
Chad Pennington - Pennington is what I would consider a warm body if you are having trouble during the bye weeks. He has not put up incredible numbers but he also is not known for a lot of turnovers. Through four games he only has one total giveaway and they are developing a running game to keep defenses honest. I would hate to start him over QBs with upside but they have been pretty scarce this season which is the only way a Dolphin signal caller could make my list. Most rosters will have a more talented bye week replacements even with injuries.
Kyle Orton - The only reason I get to list him again is because he is still only owned in 38% of ESPN leagues. It does not hurt that he is playing the Falcons this week and has thrown for over 800 yards and 8 touchdowns in his last three games. He won't be available much longer so consider using your waiver wire priority if you are struggling at QB.
RUNNING BACKS.
Cedric Benson - What is there to say about Benson other than he is being given yet another golden opportunity. Perry is stinking it up for the Bengals and Benson should be able to beat him out for the majority of the touches. He should score a few points but I would rather track his progress as he sits on my bench. He is available in 90% of ESPN leagues.
Tim Hightower- A few yards rushing and receiving and the ultimate goalline vulture. He has scored in all but one game for the potent Cardinals offense and now has 5 total touchddowns in 5 NFL starts. Only owned in 42% of ESPN leagues, carries could shift his way as Edge wears down this season.
