WWE: Edge's Retirement Speech from SmackDown That You Didn't See (Watch Video)

Last night on SmackDown, Edge gave his second farewell speech of the evening.  The speech we saw on TV was just a small amount of what the fans in attendance got to see. 

When news broke of Edge's retirement on Monday the wrestling world was shocked.  The man who had the only good title match at WrestleMania, and won for that matter, was about to retire due to worsening back issues. 

Edge showed up on Raw and gave an impromptu retirement speech that saw the Rated R Superstar shed tears.  The crowd in attendance had no idea that they were going to see the announcement of the end of one of the greatest careers in WWE history.

Edge was given free reign to go out and say his goodbyes on his terms.  SmackDown is Edge's show, though, and it would not be right to Edge to leave without a proper goodbye to his fellow blue-brand warriors. 

Edge's mom was in attendance in the front row.  Edge cried as he pointed out his mother who he called the strongest person in the world.  The crowd broke out in a "Thank You MOM" chant that brought a smile to the face and a tear to the eye of both Edge and his mother.

Edge would go on to thank guys like Kane, who in real life is one of Edge's closest friends outside the ring.  He also thanked all the people who put together the ramp and ring, as well as the behind-the-scenes people who make the videos and graphics we see for him.

He mentioned a few names that were unfamiliar, but must have been special to him. 

In the beginning of the video you can see that Edge was saluted by the entire SmackDown locker room.  HHH also made an appearance embracing the retired Edge.  Edge may be known as one of the baddest men in the business, but this night saw him come to tears many times, including during the embrace with Hunter.

If Edge had his way, he would finish his contract and retire on his terms, but life doesn't always work out the way we want.  Despite the timing, Edge probably has the most poetic and appropriate ending in WWE history.  He got to come off of WrestleMania still World Champion and retire on top.  Not many people can say that.
