
UFC, Pride and the Top 25 MMA Events Worth Owning on DVD
Having an entire catalog of the best fights can be a helpful way of introducing casual fans to the legendary fights that MMA has produced over the last decade. It can also be a way for fans to look back on their favorite fighters and their greatest moments.
Purchasing UFC events on DVD may seem like a time consuming and bad way to spend a lot of money, but prices for them have recently been slashed down to as low as five dollars at stores like FYE.
This list will feature the best bang for your buck when it comes to Pride, UFC and other MMA organization DVDs.
25. EliteXC: Street Certified

Despite the main event between Kimbo Slice and Tank Abbott meaning virtually nothing in terms of relevance in MMA, this event was jam-packed with knockouts and has one of the best undercards that you've probably never seen.
The undercard alone is worth the price, but the main event featured some vicious knockouts by fighters like Scott Smith, Yves Edwards and Brett Rogers.
24. Bushido: Volume 6

Fedor Emelianenko was looking to avenge his only defeat up until that point against Tsuyoshi Kohsaka in the main event of Pride Bushido 6.
Aleksander Emelianenko also makes his fifth appearance in Pride and fights Ricardo Morais. It only lasts 15 seconds and is arguably the best knockout in the Bushido series.
Other fighters featured include Dean Lister, Paulo Filho, Denis Kang and Gilbert Yvel.
23. Pride 23: Championship Chaos 2

Out of all the Pride Legacy sets, this is the only Pride event to not make it onto one of them.
Some of the fights featured are Fedor Emelianenko vs. Heath Herring, which is interesting to see because the commentators pick Herring to defeat the Russian legend.
Other fighters include Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Wanderlei Silva, Don Frye, Ricardo Arona and Kazushi Sakuraba.
22. UFC 74

Gabriel Gonzaga was coming off a knockout win over Mirko Cro Cop, and Randy Couture had defeated Tim Sylvia to claim the heavyweight belt. It was the biggest challenge of his career, and the fight was brutal.
Georges St. Pierre also returned after losing his title to Matt Serra. His opponent is the powerful wrestler Josh Koscheck.
Other fights include Kendall Grove vs. Patrick Cote and Roger Huerta vs. Alberto Crane.
21. UFC 117

Going into this event, Chael Sonnen went on a trash-talking extravaganza, making fun of Silva in every way possible. Could he back it up in the cage was the real question, and it gave fans one of the best fights in 2010.
Other fights on this card include Roy Nelson vs. Junior Dos Santos (a fight with major title implications), Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves 2 and Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida.
20. Pride Bushido 7

The Pride Bushido series spanned over 13 events and featured some of the best fights the organization ever produced.
This is where the series really picked up, and it's a must-have event with a 2005 "Fight of the Year" candidate between Phil Baroni and Ikuhisa "The Punk" Minowa.
There were a lot of devastating knockouts on this card. Out of the 10 bouts, four ended by one-punch KO.
19. Ultimate Fighter Finale 1

Purchasing this set will let you see not only the best Ultimate Fighter finale but also one of the most intriguing seasons of the series that is now in its 13th season.
Forrest Griffin, Stephan Bonnar, Diego Sanchez, Kenny Florian, Josh Koscheck, Chris Leben and Mike Swick all made their way into the UFC after being featured on the show and remain some of the top fighters in their divisions.
The TUF finale also has a main event between Rich Franklin and Ken Shamrock.
18. UFC 85

If you want to see the best undercard ever, then you have to get this DVD. Knockouts, submissions and some of the best fights were a part of it. Notable fights included Antonio Hardonk vs. Eddie Sanchez, Kevin Burns vs. Roan Caneiro and Thiago Tavares vs. Matt Wiman.
The main card was also great. Thiago Alves vs. Matt Hughes, Thales Leites vs. Nate Marquardt and Michael Bisping vs. Jason Day were all fights that any fan could watch twice.
17. UFC 94

Despite every fight on the undercard going the distance, the main card delivered with a brutal one-punch knockout and a rematch between two of the greatest fighters to ever step into the Octagon.
Georges St. Pierre fought B.J. Penn for the second time and was more motivated than ever. Not wanting to let it go to the scorecards, both fighters engaged in a fight surrounded by major coverage and controversy.
The co-main event was Lyoto Machida vs. Thiago Silva; both undefeated at 13-0 and looking for a knockout to catapult them into a title shot.
Jon Jones also fights for the second time in the UFC, going up against tough veteran and Ultimate Fighter finalist, Stephan Bonnar.
16. UFC 100

The biggest event in UFC history featured two title fights and a showdown between two Ultimate Fighter coaches.
In a the main event, Brock Lesnar defended his title against Frank Mir; the only opponent to defeat him. Trash talk ensued prior to this fight, lighting a fire under Lesnar.
In the co-main event, Georges St. Pierre defended his welterweight title against Thiago Alves; one of the most dangerous strikers in the division.
Everyone knows why Dan Henderson vs. Michael Bisping was a memorable fight. It's one any fan can watch over and over again.
15. UFC 92

The year-end cards are always stacked, and it was no different in 2008.
First up was a third match between Quinton Jackson and Wanderlei Silva. Silva had won two fights against Jackson previously, and went into this fight wanting a third victory. Jackson had other plans this night.
Next, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir met after teaching the eighth season of the Ultimate Fighter. Both were looking for future title shots against Brock Lesnar, and this fight would show fans who was next in line.
In the main event, light heavyweight champion, Forrest Griffin, took on undefeated Rashad Evans.
None of these fights went the distance, and all ended by knockout

This volume of five Pride events contains 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28.
Some of the major bouts featured on this volume are Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Dan Henderson 2, Anderson Silva vs. Carlos Newton, Mirko "Cro Cop" Flipovic vs. Heath Herring, Mark Coleman vs. Don Frye, Fedor Emelianenko vs. Kazuyuki Fujita and the memorable second bout between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Wanderlei Silva.
A total of 35 bouts in all.
13. Pride Fighting Legacy Volume 4

This five-disc set contains Pride 17, 18, 20, 21 and 22.
These are arguably the best compilation sets of MMA events, and they are available from $20 and below at most places.
Pride 17 bouts include Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Heath Herring and the third match between Wanderlei Silva and Kazushi Sakuraba.
Pride 20 contains the first bout between Wanderlei Silva and Mirko Cro Cop as well as Dan Henderson, Quinton Jackson, Ricardo Arona and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
Pride 21 has Don Frye vs. Yoshihiro Takayama, which is worth the $20 alone.
12. UFC 49

In a historical third meeting, Randy Couture met Vitor Belfort to try to reclaim his title he lost to him in their second fight, due to a cut early in the fight. If you want to see the true power of Couture's wrestling, watch this fight.
Chuck Liddell vs. Vernon White was entertaining while it lasted, and it didn't go past the first round.
Nobody will forget the kick Yves Edwards hit Josh Thompson with on an undercard fight at this event.
David Terrell vs. Matt Lindland is one of the most devastating knockouts you will ever see.
11. UFC 47

The second fight between Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell was the biggest, but their first fight was the best. Emotions were intense for this fight along with the result.
Nick Diaz vs. Robbie Lawler and Andrei Arlovski vs. Wesley Correira were also great stand-up brawls that resulted in two knockouts.
10. UFC 84

The most anticipated fight card of the first half of 2008 delivered on so many levels.
B.J. Penn met Sean Sherk for the lightweight title; a title Sherk had recently held but lost due to a failed drug test after his fight at UFC 73.
Wanderlei Silva and Keith Jardine fought for 36 seconds before one of them was left on the canvas.
Also, Tito Ortiz and Lyoto Machida meet in a light heavyweight bout.
Shane Carwin also makes his UFC debut.
9. Pride Grand Prix 2006

This is the greatest moment of Mirko "Cro Cop" Flipovic's career, and you can watch it in its entirety from start to finish—from Pride Total Elimination Absolute to Pride Final Conflict Absolute. The three-disc set contains all three events in 2006 featuring the Pride Open-weight Grand Prix.
This is why fans loved Pride FC, and they have the stacked cards from top to bottom to prove it.
Heavyweight fighters Alistair Overeem, Josh Barnett, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Sergei Kharitonov all take part in the tournament.
8. Pride: Shockwave Collection

This four-disc set features the popular Shockwave shows from Pride Fighting Championships.
It contains the four Shockwave events from 2003 to 2006, and each one is worth watching again and again.
A total of 43 bouts featuring Fedor Emelianenko (x3), Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (x2), Wanderlei Silva (x2), Dan Henderson (x2), Takanori Gomi (x3) as well as Josh Barnett and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.
7. Pride Grand Prix 2005

Watch the greatest moment of Maurico "Shogun" Rua's career as he makes his way through the Pride Grand Prix from 2005.
At 23-years-old, Shogun was the best of the up-and-comers in MMA and was on a tear in Pride, knocking out every one of his opponents in the organization.
Watch him as he battles Quinton Jackson, Ricardo Arona, Alistair Overeem and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in one of the best fights in the history of MMA.

6. Pride 10: Return of the Warriors

This is arguably the best Mixed Martial Arts event to ever take place and is considered by many to be the best Pride event.
Historical matchups between Kazushi Sakuraba and Renzo Gracie, Enson Inoue and Igor Vovchanchyn, Guy Mezger and Wanderlei Silva and a memorable bout between Kazuyuki Fajita and Ken Shamrock are all part of this 10-fight card.
5. UFC 68

Randy Couture, Tim Sylvia, RIch Frankin and Matt Hughes are all featured on this card, and it was one of the most exciting cards the UFC has ever put together.
Couture came back from retirement to fight the 6'8" giant and UFC heavyweight champion, Tim Sylvia. From the first bell to the last, the crowd was on their fight, engaged in a fight they would remember forever.
Rich Franklin fights Jason MacDonald and Matt Hughes takes on a fighter who has never been knocked out or submitted, in Chris Lytle.
The event saw the largest attendance ever in a MMA event held in the United States.
4. UFC 52

If you plan on purchasing either UFC 43, 52 or 57, this is the set to buy. It has all three of them.
UFC 52:
A week after Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar fought in the most memorable fight in UFC history, the TUF season one coaches, Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture, met for the second time in a fight that would change both of their careers.
Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg 2, arguably the greatest fight ever in the UFC, was a fight Dana White has called his favorite fight of all time.
Georges St. Pierre also fights Jason "Mayhem" Miller.
3. Pride Grand Prix 2003

The popular Pride Grand Prix series put on one heck of a show in 2003.
This set contains both events from the tournament; Pride Total Elimination and Pride Final Conflict.
The first event had a stacked card including Chuck Liddell vs. Alistair Overeem, Murilo Bustamante vs. Quinton Jackson, Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Wanderlei Silva as well as non-tournament matches with Fedor Emelianenko, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Mirko "Cro Cop" Flipovic.

2. Pride 33: The Second Coming

Pride FC makes another appearance in the United States and they brought a stacked card from top to bottom to entertain the fans.
Wanderlei Silva vs. Dan Henderson, 2007's "Fight of the Year" between Takanori Gomi and Nick Diaz as well as fights featuring Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Alistair Overeem and Mac Danzig all make up this action-packed card.
1. Pride Bushido 9

Pride Bushido 9 was the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the welterweight and lightweight grand-prix.
Considered by many to be one of the best cards in the history of Pride, this two-disc set contains 14 bouts featuring fighters like Dan Henderson, Hayato Sakurai, Takanori Gomi, Joachim Hansen, Jens Pulver and Phil Baroni all trying to make their way into the finals to be crowned the grand-prix champion.
This event is entertaining throughout, and it's one of those events you will want to show all of your friends who have never seen a Pride fight.
