WWE: Edge and 10 Other Main Event Stars Made from Tag Teaming Since 2000
Hey Bleacherholics, or in respect to the Rated R Superstar; Edge. "Bleacher-heads."
Edge was a great wrestler, perhaps one of the best since the millennium, but was rarely spoken about in contrast to other WWE Superstars, John Cena, Randy Orton John Morrison and many others. Sure he was spoken about but the majority of times, it was discussing the issues between himself and fellow WWE Superstar, friend and Tag Team partner; Christian.
He was someone I think we can all say was taken for granted, because we all knew he was about and we heard about him retiring in the coming years, but we didn't know exactly when.
Now he is seemingly done as an active competitor, we all are writing are articles whether on here or on another platform, to show our respect to Edge.
The fact is we shouldn't take things for granted. We all have heard Undertaker to retire next year or Triple H to continue to "Sports Entertain" us for two years, but we truly don't know.
Don't take these guys for granted, don't bash them. If you don't like them just say the once and don't hate on them and every fan of theirs because once they retire, we will more than likely conflict our personal opinions.
Have you ever heard the phrase, "Bigger in death?" Well, Bigger in retirement might be justified here...
This slide will show you my top five WWE Main eventers who came through the ranks of Tag teaming in the recent years of the WWE.
Jeff Hardy
1 of 12
All TNA Mishaps aside, Jeff Hardy made his name along with his brother Matt Hardy in the Tag Team Scene in the WWE.
Collectively, they won an impressive 7 tag team championships within the WWE.
He made his name through the various ladder and TLC matches involving fellow tag team future main eventer Edge. His matches alongside his brother against Edge and Christian, and also the Dudleyz.
He won a mixture of singles titles including, Intercontinental and Hardcore titles, but it wasn't until late 2007 and early 2008 that he was viewed and received as a main event player.
In WWE, he won the WWE Championship once, along with a two time reign as WWE World Champion, which was recently vacated by Edge.
Rey Mysterio
2 of 12
When you think of Rey Mysterio, you think Luchadore, you think high-flyer, you think - Crusierweight.
What doesn't come to mind until later is Tag Team Champion.
A 8 time Crusierwight champion - he is also an 7 time Tag Team Champion including his stints in both WCW And WWE.
He has paired with many fellow Tag Team wrestlers turned Main eventer, some of whom may be in this slideshow....
The Miz
3 of 12
Miz will be remembered for one of two things:
From working from bottom to top - Host to jobber to mid-card to Main event Stardom.
or
Teaming with the IWC fetish - John Morrison.
He teamed with Morrison from 2007 to 2009 and became one of the more entertain Tag team acts in recent memory.
Booker T
4 of 12
Although he was a four time WCW World Champion.
He is a ten time, ten time (well, ya know...) WCW Tag Team holder with his brother Stevie Ray.
It wasn't until five years into his WWE Stint he became top dog along his way he won three Tag Team belts with Goldust, Test and this man....
Rob Van Dam
5 of 12
MR [Insert day here] night.
Weather it's Mr Monday night, Mr PPV, MR Tuesday night or currently Mr Thursday night.
He will always put on a show weather with Booker t, Rey Mysterio or Kane he won a tag Team Belt with each - he made his transition to main eventer through the once annuel Wrestlemania Money in the Bank match.
Chris Jericho
6 of 12
Chris Jericho is a great Wrestler - weather Tag Team or singles.
He is a beast when collecting Gold and this is no different;
He has been a Co-holder with Edge/Big Show due to Edge's torn Achilles Tendon, Christian, Chris Benoitand Returnee The Rock.
Although Y2J has had a great Tag Team History, he would more than likely want to be remembered as 'The only Undisputed Champion in WWE History!'
Batista
7 of 12
Whilst everyone was watching Randy Orton and his pursuit of gold weather in the form of Intercontinental or World Championship - Batista was teaming with a legend, a hall of famer, he was teaming with Ric Flair.
The Animal and Flair won gold twice whilst Batista would also later receive Tag Team titles again with his successful formation with Mysterio.
The Animal has left WWE and Wrestling for now to pursue MMA ventures - hopefully he can teach them Wrestlers or rather Superstars are tough enough to keep up with them and to give us respect.
CM Punk
8 of 12
CM Punk is now the leader of a once dominating faction, now we can't even remember the name.
Punk also had a team consisting of Kofi and himself - although the held Tag Team gold once and the only time in their WWE Careers, they have both made a name for themselves as great singles Superstars
Eddie Guerrero
9 of 12
Eddie Teamed with Chavo, Rey Mysterio and Tajiri and one gold with each.
Whereever, Whenever - Eddie would entertain the fans, weather in the arena that night or at home, weather heel or face, weather being booed or cheered. He was great, he was Eddie Guerrero.
RIP EDDIE
