2011 NHL Playoffs: Montreal Canadiens Won't Go Away

I think that I've reached my limit when it comes to hearing about the Montreal Canadiens and the Boston Bruins squaring off. For some reason, whenever there's something big brewing with the Habs, Boston is not far off, ready to impose their bruising style and drub the Bleu-Blanc-et-Rouge.

I'm really not sure how the Habs are getting written off yet again. It's as if no one has a memory longer than the last game the two played. That game was one of, if not the worst game the Canadiens played all season long. Not to take anything away from the B's; they were good. I just don't think they were that good.

I don't think they were good enough to erase the season series between the two clubs, which the Canadiens won 4-2.

I don't think they were good enough to make everyone forget about the utter dominance the Montreal Canadiens have asserted against them in playoffs past (the 1990s not withstanding).

Don't worry, though, I remember the Bruins' sweep of the Canadiens the last time the two met in the postseason. I was at that Game 4 in 2009 when Carey Price threw his arms up in disgust. He was terrible in that series. Perhaps he wasn't ready for the bright lights at the Bell Centre.

Guess what? It's game time and Carey's ready.

I refuse to believe that this team will fold in this situation. The no-show after the Chara-Pacioretty incident was embarrassing, but there is no way that it can happen again.

These are the playoffs, a time which most Montrealers wait for all year long. The Canadiens have a responsibility to their fans to compete.

I like to think that they can win now when it counts the most, but hey, I've been wrong before.

We'll see what happens when the teams meet. Just don't tell me how much better the Bruins are than the Canadiens.
