2011 Masters Final: The Colors of the Leader Board
George Orwell, in his epic 1984, is most remembered for his memorable quote:
"Who controls the past, controls the future; who controls the present, controls the past."
Today's Final Round may best be described by the lesion this quote imparts. While everyone was watching "the past" (embodied in Tiger Woods) try to once again regain what he once controlled, the future of golf dominated the Leader Board.
As I have done so for each round, here is a look at the colours of the future:
Angel Cabrera Finished Nine (9) Under Par
1 of 7
Angel Cabrera, aching dental implants and with his son on his bag, may have put the cart before the horse, dressing in Green. Alas-and-alay, Angel unfortunately made a fatal mistake by choosing the wrong shade of Green.
Angel did shoot one (1) under par and placed 7th.
Luke Donald Finished Ten (10) Under Par
2 of 7
Luke followed up yesterday wonderful ensemble with an almost totally White outfit accessorized by a scant amount of black.
Note to Luke: Next time spend the $$$ and get your trousers lined !!!
Luke finished tied for 4th after shooting three (3) under par on the day.
Tiger Woods Finished Ten (10) Under Par
3 of 7
Tiger showed up in (what else ???) his trademark Red shirt and black accessories.
We have been told that his Mumsie gave him that colour as his "power color". Unfortunately, Tiger, a Stanford drop-out, must have never studied Orwell's profound quote, so he obviously does not understand that it's time for another colour on the last day.
Tiger finished his round tied for 2nd, and it never got better — actually it got worse while he was eating. No reports on what he took for the heart-burn !!! He tied for 4th.
Geoff Ogilvy Finished Ten (10) Under Par
4 of 7
Geoff, having put together a nicely coordinated Blue ensemble today, and obviously benefitted from his pairing with Freddie Couples today ... who wouldn't ???
Geoff shot a wonderful five (5) under par today and tied for 4th overall.
Adam Scott Finished Twelve (12) Under Par
5 of 7
At first glance, one might think that Adam simply switched up his outfit from yesterday, but that is not the case. That shirt had thin lateral stripes, so maybe he actually was thinking of how he's look in a Green Jacket.
Adam shot an exciting five (5) under par. He tied for 2nd.
Jason Day Finished Twelve (12) Under Par
6 of 7
Jason obviously found someone to help him with a Final Round outfit which contrasted greatly to his yawn-able ensemble yesterday. Today's outfit (my favorite !!!) of a blazing two-tone Orange shirt was indicative of his play.
Jason finished tied for 2nd with a four (4) under par round today.
Charl Schwartzel Is the 2011 Champion
7 of 7
While my personal belief is that black ought never be worn on the golf course, Charl obviously felt so comfortable in it that he shot a blistering six (6) under par with ten (10) straight pars, followed by four (4) birdies, to finish fourteen (14) under par for the tournament.
Congratulations to this year's Champion !!!
