WWE Monday Night RAW Preview: Just Who is the Anonymous General Manager?

Giulio RomanoApr 11, 2011

Real Talk! Bleachers.

It was long ago, now, that Vince McMahon announced a new general manager would come and replace a beaten Bret Hart at the hands of Nexus.

This would be an anonymous manager whose words would be interpreted via a computer and read annoyingly by Michael Cole and his now infamous phrase: "...and I quote."

The general manager of RAW always made his announcements following a text message-like chime that, at first, was very entertaining and had us all waiting to see what would be said.

He even used famous catchphrases to deceive us all. For example, the likes of "If you ain't down with that, we got two words for ya;" or "Cuz that's the bottom line cause the GM said so."

What was once used to build up Michael Cole as a "heel" and establish the appearance of someone spectacular is now reduced, I find, to a bothersome presence who meddles in the superstars' business and sets up ridiculous matches such as WWE Champion The Miz versus, get this, The Great Khali!

I was "digging" this whole thing last year but now I find it way passed its expiration date and wish, no command, it to come to an end.

Why have they not revealed the identity yet? Who could it really be? When will we ever get the answer? To tell you the truth, I think WWE doesn't have a clue either.

It's been so long now that nobody cares.

I feel they integrated this to keep us watching and hoping, and it must be, because they haven't yet nailed that one person who could deliver a jaw-dropping moment.

I divided the people I suspect into two categories:

The Suspect List: Where it is very likely they could be the one

The Wish List: The ones who could really mean something extraordinary if they are the one

SUSPECT LIST:

Arn Anderson:

A producer and ring veteran the fans love. Someone less important than Vince McMahon so he doesn't overshadow the boss.

Michael Cole:

Having us fooled all along, and a way for him to continue his heel persona beyond broadcasting once the Cole-Mine story ends.

Stephanie McMahon:

She can return and assist her husband Paul "Triple H" Levesque in being a strong creative advisor.

Triple H:

Running the show and manipulating things with wife Stephanie, while also representing Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon:

There is no RAW GM. He used this pretext to get out of the spotlight and his "Mr. McMahon" character.

WISH LIST:

"The Ultimate Warrior" Jim Hellwig:

A former WWE champion and fan favorite. They've had their differences in the past, but with all the new figurines and mentions over the last year, it would seem like an incredible feat to get him on board the WWE train once again.

Perhaps a sign they would induct him into the Hall of Fame class of 2012.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage:

Another persona that needs induction into the Hall of Fame, in my opinion, and just as powerful an impact would be his return to WWE after so many years.

Imagine him appearing and delivering his patented "Oh Yeah" to impose his rule over the RAW superstars and divas. WWE doesn't ever do something for no reason, and his recent figurines could be a sign of things to come.

Shane McMahon:

My personal choice. I read, via sites like "Lordsofpain.net," that the former executive and on-screen talent has resurfaced here and there.

He is on good terms with his family, but left due to his lack of interest in behind-the-scenes politics. Whether this is true or not, I'd find his return to be an epic moment.

What a way to have the whole family back together and therefore allow Vince to step down gradually and have his children and in-laws take care of business.

Right now, as of April 11th 2011, I think WWE creative only has a few ideas, none solid, about who is the RAW general manager.

I could be wrong; this is an opinion, after all.

I hope they deliver soon, because I will soon cease to care. I just hope they don't disappoint us with someone like Abraham Washington, whom I, and many people, don't know, having never followed ECW.

What do you think B/R community? Who do you think is the RAW GM?
