Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up

Happy New Year (Rosh Hashanah) to all my fellow Jews.  Start loading up on the carbs in anticipation of Yom Kippur (by far my least favorite holiday, but actually my favorite at the same time…truly appreciate life).  Anyway, I was supposed to be headed to Viera, FL today for All Florida Weekend, but a lot of the high school baseball guys we are talking to are not going to that particular tournament.  I’ll hold off until the big WWBA World Championship starting Oct. 23 in Jupiter.  I’ll be heading there with my dad to check out the best players in this region.  Here are some stories I missed this past week:

Football

• I really think that UnderArmour has been making some great decisions on whom to sponsor [Devin Hester Proves To Be A Great Buy].
• Why is the NFL not getting as much heat as the MLB in regards to performance enhancing drugs? [A detailed history]

Basketball

• Please tell me he is getting a ton of money for this [Baron Davis Hops On Jenny Craig Bandwagon].
• Kudos to Josh Howard for what seems to be a heart-felt apology.  Additionally, smart PR move to wait about a week to let the news die down a bit…and stay out of the public eye all the while [Howard apologizes for negative comments, incidents off court].
• Tough times for Shawn Kemp [Shawn Kemp Will Not Play In Italy].
• The Kings are placing a big investment in a young Goodwin client [Kings sign García to five-year pact].
• My prediction is that this will be Gordon’s last year as a Bull [Bulls guard Gordon skips practice then signs qualifying offer].

Baseball

• And a full no-trade clause [Lohse Agrees to $41M, 4-Year Deal With Cardinals].
