Nick Diaz has came out in recent days and talked a lot about everything related to Strikeforce. Whether it be how overworked he is, or how underpaid he is, Diaz has been talking.

Now Diaz has gone out saying he cares more about the money than being a champion.

"I don't care about the Strikeforce belt," said Diaz in an interview with MMAWeekly.com. "I knew there was a reason I never put that s--- on anyway."

Diaz wants to get to the top of his game and feels that the UFC is the topย echelonย in MMA, now that Zuffa has purchased Strikeforce.

"I'm trying to go to the top you know, and if Jake Shields ends up number one rank fighter in the world then, I want to be number two," Diaz said.

As for the Strikeforce welterweight belt, Diaz cares more about the money he would get paid retaining the belt, than to be an actual champion.

"Champion, whatever. He can have the belt, I'm fighting for money," said Diaz.

Diaz was once a UFC fighter like his brother Nate who fights in the UFC, and went 6-4 while under the UFC label.

But Diaz left the UFC after his TKO victory over Gleison Tibau at UFC 65: Bad Intentions.ย

UFC president, Dana White, has expressed interest in signing Diaz if he would be willing to play "the game".

"Nate Diaz is on the Toronto card, too. Iโ€™m a big Nate Diaz fan. I like him a lot โ€“ him and his brother.ย The problem with Nick Diaz is Nick wonโ€™t play the game even [a little]. You canโ€™t [flip off] the athletic commission. You canโ€™t tell people โ€“ you have to play the game a little bit.ย Whenย Nick Diaz wants to play just a little bitย โ€“ and nobodyโ€™s telling him not to be who he is and not to act the way he wants, but youโ€™ve got to play a little โ€“ when he does, weโ€™d love to have him back in the UFC," said White at a press conference before UFC Fight for the Troops 2.ย
