Kimbo's $500k Night, Georges St. Pierre's New Friends, TUF Casting Calls
If you were thinking about whether your son should pursue fighting or stick with his dream of being a teacher, go build a cage in the backyard and get that lil' guy on YouTube. MMAWeekly.com released the fighter purses from Saturday's EliteXC bout today.
Salaries are public record as they are submitted by law to the state commission by the promoter. Certain bonuses (Fight of the Night, PPV draws, etc.) aren't revealed or added to these numbers.
For a guy that everyone calls a fraud, that Kimbo Slice sure knows how to make the most of less than 30 seconds of in-ring work. The Carano income surprised me a bit as it seems awful low for the 'face of women's MMA.'
-Seth Petruzelli ($50,000/win bonus was $15,000)
-Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson ($500,000/win bonus would have been $100,000)
-Jake Shields ($50,000/win bonus was $10,000)
-Paul Daley ($12,000)
-Andre Arlovski ($500,000)
-Roy Nelson ($80,000)
-Gina Carano ($25,000/win bonus was $10,000)
-Kelly Kobald-Gavin ($6,000)
-Benji Radach ($30,000/win bonus was $15,000)
-Murilo Rua ($35,000)

Hey there: are you a middleweight or welterweight fighter and want to be on the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter? You do? Tryouts are happening in London (October 20th) and Chicago (October 27th). You must be 21 and be able to compete at the 170 or 185-pound weight class. For the exact location and specifics on the Chicago stop, here you go.
Georges St. Pierre has taken the next step toward global superstardom by signing on with CAA Sports, the sports division of major firm Creative Arts Agency. This is a pretty big deal as CAA Sports represents several high-profile athletes and will look to push GSP across "a wide variety of platforms, including movies, television, licensing and digital media."
However, GSP isn't up to the level of stars like Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture so this will be a big test of whether a guy with a heavy French accent and a guy that isn't a light-heavyweight/heavyweight can make the crossover.
