Will the Real Emmanuel Adebayor Please Stand Up?

The gospel according to the home support at The Emirates Stadium, but is the gospel telling the truth?

Emmanuel Adebayor signed for Arsenal in January, 2006 from one of Arsene Wenger's old clubs, AS Monaco. The fee was a reported £3 million. So, just what have the North London club got for their pieces of silver?

The Togolese man has played 116 times for the Gunners, scoring 52 times. All things considered, this is not a bad ratio for the 6'4" front man. It is just under a goal every two games. Not quite Thierry Henry or Ian Wright, but then who is?

However, this Gooner and many more have problems with the man from Africa. Yes, he has been a good player for Arsenal, but not great!

The main difficulty is knowing which Adebayor will turn up. Will it be the one who scores a hat trick against Blackburn or the one who couldn't hit a barn door that turned up against Dynamo Kyiv?

Far too often it is the latter!

How many out there have screamed at the TV as Ade pulls another clear-cut shot wide? Who shoots instead of passing? Who passes instead of shoots?

Theo Walcott sprints full-throttle down the line and places a sublime ball into the danger area in the penalty box. Where is Adebayor? Somewhere outside the box or beside Walcott, looking for him to pass the ball to him on the wing where he is at his least dangerous.

Over the summer, Arsenal were offered in excess of £30 million for their front man. Is he worth it? He could be!

The man from Togo has all the ability to be a top forward. He does score some great goals, he can hold up the ball, he can make some great runs, and, most importantly for Arsenal, he can head the ball. The problem is consistency, the story of Arsenal's season so far, right?

So from a Gunner fan to a Gunner player, will the "Blackburn" Adebayor please stand up?
