UFC 131 Fight Card: Court McGee Out, Chris Weidman in Against Jesse Bongfeldt
The winner of Season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter, Court McGee, has reportedly suffered a knee injury and has been forced out of his scheduled fight against Jesse Bongfeldt. The two fighters were originally expected to meet at UFC 131: Lesnar vs. Dos Santos, but MMAJunkie has reported that the fight has been canceled.
Franklin McNeil of ESPN has discovered that Chris Weidman has been chosen to replace McGee and fight Bongfeldt at UFC 131.
Weidman is coming off of an impressive performance in a decision win against Alessio Sakara in his UFC debut at UFC Live on Versus 3. Bongfeldt will also be fighting for second time in the UFC after fighting to a draw with Rafael Natal at UFC 124.
Despite the loss of McGee, UFC 131 is still shaping up as an event with many high-profile fighters. The event will be held at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada on June 11, 2011.
