Romo and Juliet? Give it a Rest
- Romo isn’t exactly experienced. This is his first full season as a starter, and only his second season with a completion in the NFL.
- Momentum. Let’s face it, the Giants were coming of a couple of great games and the Cowboys had a whole week to think about ending the regular season in the embarrassing way they did.
- Jessica Simpson. Last time I checked she wore a pink jersey, not a blue one. I don’t see her catching passes.
- Injuries. Sure they didn’t play a big role as T.O. still played, but it got plenty of talk, which brings up my next point.
- Distractions. For once this didn’t involve Owens running his mouth. The media have been all over the Cowboys this year. From appointing them the only possible Patriot slayers from the NFC to blowing Romo’s personal relationships way out of perspective. With so much pressure placed on this team, the bye may have given them too much time to think about it.
So can one blond bombshell take down “America’s team”? Hardly.
Some superstitious fans may say that she was too much of a distraction. I didn’t realize that a celebrity coming to a sporting event could make the athletes perform worse. Doesn’t this happen fairly often in sports? I’m sure at almost any professional sporting event you can find at least one celebrity, yet the loss isn’t placed on them is it?
Tony Romo is a 27-year old professional quarterback, are you telling me that he was so unfocused that he let Jessica throw his game off bad enough to lose, not once, but twice? By the way she wasn’t even at the playoff game this weekend. Why can’t a team lose a game purely because they scored fewer points than the other team?
Maybe I am just some ranting student who is sick of hearing about the personal lives of athletes and I’m completely off base with this, or maybe T.O. was actually right with his recent press conference by telling the press that is was “unfair” to blame Romo for the loss. They lost as a team and next year they will be back as a team, Jessica or not.
