WWE News: Want 'Tough Enough' Extras? There's an App for That

Gone Baby GoneApr 5, 2011

In what can only be described as intriguing, USA Network has announced that it is launching a new social media platform for Tough Enough.

According to the release, the app will incorporate a "complete social television experience. Which will allow sharing through USA's chatter platform for instant communicating."

There is also a rewards program, and a Facebook communication similar to the "Like" button. The app will connect fans to social and mobile features that allow them to interact with friends through their Android or Apple device.

The app allows fans to earn points, letting them unlock exclusive content or use them towards virtual and physical purchases at the "Tough Club."

Members can earn "Tough Club Points" through www.wwetoughenough.com or on their mobile devices.

Not only will you be able to have access to the cast and earn those "Tough Club Points," you can also share favorite moments wit the Tough Enough chatter feature, available at the Tough Enough site.

This seems pretty cool, especially for people who are into the whole social media thing. I believe this is the first time that any show has had an option like this. So this could set a new trend on how we view TV as well.

Personally, I don't see the point. Most of the extra content for shows is not not good, and that's why it doesn't make it on TV. Very rarely are there gems that make you go, "Wow, that should have been on TV."

However, getting points towards merchandise is almost always a good thing. Hopefully, they won't make obtaining them too outlandish, and fans of the show can really get some cool stuff.

What are your thoughts? Is this a cool feature for your viewing purposes? Or a waste of time?
