The moment that WWE fans everywhere have been waiting for finally happened last night on Raw. Nearly 24 hours after The Rock delivered a Rock Bottom that cost John Cena his match with The Miz at WrestleMania, Rock and Cena met face-to-face.
They went back and forth trading insults, offering praise and then came the challenge.
Cena said that The Rock claims to be a man of the people and that it was time that he started listening to what the people wanted. He took off his shirt and hat and challenged Rock to a match.
Rock agreed, but said that such a match would have to take place on the biggest possible stage: WrestleMania 28.
They shook hands, and just like that the main event for next year's WrestleMania was set.
Whether you like the idea of WWE booking that match now is irrelevant. The big story is that The Rock is going to get back into the ring, against the biggest star in WWE today, at the biggest event of the wrestling year.
Fans have wanted Rock to come back for a long time. They got their wish this year, when he hosted WrestleMania. Next year, he will do them one better and step into the ring to wrestle.
We are 360 days away from that match, but in this one moment, WrestleMania 28 became must-see television.
