Urijah Faber: 'Dominick Cruz Is Not a Knockout Puncher'
Recently the UFC booked its first-ever bantamweight title bout between fan favorite Urijah Faber and current champion Dominick Cruz.
Cruz had earlier stated the reason why he held such a grudge and had disliked Faber.
"So, my way of getting on the poster was to sign where I signed [over Faber's picture], and it ended up pissing him off. Since then, he's been the one calling me out. He's done a million YouTube videos, went on like a media frenzy and just done a bunch of YouTube videos running his mouth. After that, that's when everything started up. That's when I started talking because I'm not just going to let him keep running his mouth about me for no reason," Cruz said in an interview with MMAjunkie.com.
Well it didn't take long for Faber to make one of those crazy YouTube videos he does that makes Cruz so angry. Even the video where Faber teaches "The Korean Zombie," Jung Chan-Sung, English is probably on that list.
In that video, it didn't come across as a humble Faber. No, he went straight for the throat of Cruz.
"Let me tell you guys that, I'm going to win this fight," Faber said in the YouTube video. "Dominick Cruz is not a knockout puncher. He's not a submission expert. He's always in great shape and banks on that and I never get tired."
Faber (25-4) and Cruz (17-1) both boast pretty impressive records, with both fighters only losing to top-notch talent in the MMA world.
"Only three people in this world have beaten me, and I have been fighting for over seven years," said Faber.
Faber even dived into the rift between himself and Cruz.
"He's got something I want," Faber said. "I'm the only to beat him, so he's always got to hear my name and people want to know, 'what's going on?', and that's why, basically, people are hearing about this stuff is, I'm an honest guy, and I call it how it is.
"I just don't think he's that cool," Faber continued. "Whether he wants to complain and think I'm trying to tarnish his name, whatever, I'm just being honest dude."
