Cincinnati Bengals: Team Talking About Possibly Trading for Kevin Kolb

Kevin RobertsApr 5, 2011

According to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter, the Cincinnati Bengals have “floated the idea” of trading for Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Kevin Kolb within the organization.

It was made to be fairly obvious by Kolb himself following the 2010 NFL season that he would not be okay with sitting on the bench another year, while the Eagles haven’t been shy about their willingness to trade Kolb. The only question, it seems, is what they consider to be proper compensation.

Unfortunately for the Bengals, everyone in the league knows their own predicament, which could make landing a potential star player like Kolb even more difficult.

Cincinnati is looking at a 2011 season with no quarterback, as they are currently standing without Carson Palmer as their passer. Palmer has said numerous times that he desires to be traded and would rather retire than to continue playing in Cincinnati.

As it stands, no teams can trade players before or during the 2011 NFL Draft, so any plans the Eagles or Bengals might have look to be on a major hold at the moment. While it’s interesting to think about Kolb’s prospects in Cincy and what type of trade could go down, the Bengals continue to have the Carson Palmer problem staring them in the face.

All of this will be settled as soon as teams are allowed to trade players, but at least we know for now that the Bengals are proactive in trying to figure out their quarterback situation for next season.
