NCAA Championship:After Last Night, Bring on the Girls: Texas A&M vs. Notre Dame

Taveus HawkinsApr 5, 2011

Hopefully, everyone has awaken from their CBS induced coma after watching Butler and UConn middle schools do battle in the NCAA National Championship Final.

Never in all my years of watching college basketball have I seen such an abysmal performance by two teams.  Both teams were truly deserving of defeat.  That was extremely ugly, not to mention painful to watch.

Congratulations UConn!  You plodded and trudged your way to a National Championship.  Unfortunately, you'll be hard-pressed to make anyone believe you are the best college basketball team in the country.

However, that is nothing new.  When have we really  believed that the team that wins the "tourney" is the best team?  They have maybe proven to be the best team in the tourney but hardly the best team in college basketball.

If you tune in tonight to the Women's Championship Final, I think you'll find things a little different.  I'm predicting there will be some kind of contest.  What a great shot in the arm this should prove to be for the women's game.  Anything they do should be an improvement over the men's final.

Texas A&M and Notre Dame will not disappoint.  I'm so excited about what will take place in Indianapolis this evening.

You are about to see two fine teams that have gone through the gauntlet to get to the National Championship Final.

The girls are fine-tuned and I might add fine to look at.  Great looking girls with athletically toned bodies will take the floor this evening and give you a real thrill.

Sydneys Colson and Carter (That's right. They're both named Sydney) for Texas A&M are just as cute as they can be.  Don't let their cuteness fool you though.  They are tenacious "ballers."  They are coming to get you!

They, along with fellow guard Tyra White, defend like Texas State Troopers.  They push the ball up the floor and make precise passes to All-American post player Danielle Adams, who with her thick body has a feathery touch from "three-point land."

The supporting cast knows their role, and they play within their limits.  Gary Blair, with his  l - o - n - g story telling qualities and "goofy" barbs has put together a team that will be very difficult to beat in the Final Tuesday night.

Good guard play wins tournaments, and both teams have good guards.  Notre Dame is led by Skylar Diggins.  She was borne and bred to be "Irish."  She grew up in South Bend idolizing former Notre Dame point guard and current assistant coach, Niele Ivey.  Talk about "eye candy."  Both of these women (Diggins and Ivey) look like runway models.  These are two beautiful women.

Excuse me for digressing. Back to the topic at hand.  Oh, where was I?

Skylar is an awesome southpaw point guard who does a lot with the ball in her hands.  Just ask UConn and Maya Moore.  Skylar and the Irish just kicked them to the curb.

Coach Muffet McGraw has put together a very balanced attack.  Only eight points per game separates the leading scorer from the least in the rotation.  They are a lot like A&M in that respect.

They have athletes that don't mind banging.  They will do the dirty work.  These girls work hard.  Remember the names McBride, Novosel, Bruszewski, Peters, Achonwa and Turner.  You'll hear those names quite a bit tonight.  They have all played a vital role in the success of Notre Dame this season.

Who would I give the edge to?  I think I must go with A&M.  I think the backcourt experience will pay great dividends.  The two Sydneys are awesome together.  I have noticed their poise and composure under stress.  They don't bend.

It just seems that their work is not finished until they raise that trophy above their heads.  They are on a mission.

After the press conference after their win over 1-seed Stanford, I noticed something.  When the starters were dismissed to their locker room, little Sydney Carter made sure that each chair was pushed neatly back to the table.

Why did she do that?  I don't know.  Is there some special significance?  Probably not.  I think it is just that she refuses to leave things undone.

Cute, little Sydney intends to finish what she started.  She's going home with hardware Tuesday night.

This game will have everything a man would want to see.  I wonder if Dr. Naismith envisioned beautiful women "throwing dimes"  and "spotting up shooting the three."

What a beautiful thing to witness!  Beautiful young ladies taking the floor with a relentless will to win.  Believe me.  It is going to be some kind of contest.
