Tough Enough 2011: Why My Opinion Has Changed After Watching Episode One

Ricky MarteApr 4, 2011

In January of 2011, WWE announced they were bringing back Tough Enough, the reality series where the winner receives a WWE contract.

After hearing about it, I can truthfully say that I was skeptical about the idea of bringing it back, with the direction the WWE seems to be going right now. I expected to see very little wrestling, lots of drama and a bunch of divas and pretty boys.

I watched the first episode tonight after Raw, and with the exception of the John Cena/Rocky confrontation, Tough Enough was more enjoyable for me.

First of all, Stone Cold didn't disappoint. What we saw in this episode, without spoiling things for those who haven't watched it yet, was a "foul-mouthed SOB" we haven't seen in the WWE for a while.

Since his return to television, Austin hasn't really done that much talking, so it was good to see him be the Stone Cold we all know and love.

I also loved to see the role that Bill DeMott will have in the show. It seems like both he and Austin will be very authoritative figures, which I like.

Booker T and Trish Stratus didn't really make much of an impression on me tonight, but I'll withhold judgment since it's just the first episode.

The episode didn't seem like it was going to be one of those cheesy, scripted reality shows. It seemed like a genuine competition, and call me naive but I think that with Austin, DeMott, Booker and Trish these guys are really going to have to work hard to earn their place among the immortals.

I, for one, am very excited to see what's going to happen during the rest of this season of Tough Enough.

What did you guys think of the first episode?
