WWE WrestleMania 27 Reaction: What's Next for CM Punk?

Ryan FryeApr 3, 2011

CM Punk has quickly become one of the Internet Wrestling Community's golden boys.

The markism for this man has reached very scary heights. But with his Ring Of Honor background and combo of terrific mic skills and solid in-ring craftsmanship, it is easy to understand why CM Punk is so beloved.

However, the golden boy fell Sunday Night at WrestleMania 27 to the WWE's golden boy, "The Viper" Randy Orton.

You see, in the build up to WrestleMania Punk had his entire New Nexus stable punted in the skull and effectively demoted back to Florida Championship Wrestling.

After losing, where exactly does CM Punk go?

In his past four feuds (Mysterio, Big Show, Cena and Orton), he has been squashed in three of them and beat Cena with the help of a wrech and a Nexus member.

So, he needs a guy that is at his level, but isn't going to derail his career.

This obviously takes Randy Orton out of consideration here.

Now, who else on the Raw Roster fits the criteria I listed above.

Daniel Bryan?

The IWC would mess their pants if they saw this. It is an old classic from Ring of Honor. The wrestling matches could be absolutely epic.

And it would make sense from a creative standpoint, because what is Bryan doing?

The problem with a potential Punk/Bryan program is, that would be looked at as a step down from Orton. I mean, you go from "The Viper" to the nerd?

Unless Bryan suddenly receives a gimmick change, this would be moving down the ladder for CM Punk.

The only other man that makes sense and it just so happens he has history with Mr. Punk: John Morrison.

Morrison, like Punk, will likely have nothing else to do. This could create some great matches and wouldn't be as big of a step down as Daniel Bryan.

Punk could also help Morrison upper his mic skills and be a way to see if John Morrison is ready to be a main eventer.

I believe Morrison and Punk are what each other need to make it to the next level. Punk would go over, because he needs positive momentum. But John Morrison could also benefit greatly from this, if booked correctly.

So, what are your thoughts on CM Punk, does a feud with John Morrison make sense? Or does the Straight Edge Superstar need something else?
