WWE WrestleMania 27: How WWE Can Make the Most of the Matches on the Card

Daniel MasseyApr 1, 2011

Hey there Bleachers! This is my first WrestleMania article, and I thought I’d do something a little different from generic predictions.

This list of results shows what I think would garner the most excitement out of the biggest event of the year and why.

This also takes into account the consequences of these results and how they can be built on for the impending pay-per-view next month.

Enjoy!

Kane, Big Show, Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov vs. The Corre

1 of 10

I’ve hated the look of this match since I predicted it a couple of weeks ago. Nevertheless, WWE could still make this eight-man tag match WrestleMania worthy.

The Corre needs to win. They are holding two prestigious titles in the company and are in a powerful position.

If they lose to a mismatched team with no titles on the line, it will not do anything for their group apart from embarrass it.

This would also devalue the titles they hold. It’s already a travesty that the intercontinental title isn’t being defended, never mind the tag-team titles as well.

If The Corre wins, I’ll be as happy as a man can be about this situation.

Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan

2 of 10

This match has the potential to be a WrestleMania classic.

They need to be given a decent amount of time for their match, more so Daniel Bryan can show off his technical skills and look good losing.

Sheamus must win this match, as he has just dropped the King of the Ring moniker and is looking strong with the US title.

This would allow for a continued feud into Extreme Rules.

I would love to see a rematch between these two Superstars at another pay-per-view, but I believe Sheamus must win for this to happen.

This would also leave him open to the Superstars who want a shot at the US title.

Snooki, Trish Stratus and John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler and LayCool

3 of 10

What can I say? Erm...Snooki made a good impact on Raw, and if she is looking to become a full-time Diva, she needs to pull off the win over LayCool.

However, as John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler (two potentially huge Superstars) have been stuck in this match, they need to overshadow the Divas to stand out and not be seen as nobodies at the Granddaddy of them all.

No feuds should come of this...

Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes

4 of 10

This is another match that has the potential to be a WrestleMania classic.

This feud has been built effectively from the start, and I believe it is the most successful feud going into the event (and I’m counting Cena/Rock).

Cody Rhodes' character has been given excellent exposure and development, and as Rey Mysterio seems to be on the way out, Cody needs to pick up the victory.

His character fits the concept of Extreme Rules perfectly, and he could feud with almost anyone.

If Rey Mysterio wins, we’ll get another boring "underdog" feud with someone, and Cody’s character will fade away into nothingness after being humbled at WrestleMania.

Randy Orton vs. CM Punk

5 of 10

I’m not interested in this match at all, but if WWE wants to make the most of it, Punk needs to win. Why? Because many people are getting bored of SuperOrton the way they are bored of SuperCena.

They are building him up to be the top star in the company in the same way they did with Cena, and it is more transparent than my front window.

If Orton loses, this gives him a chance to do what he does best—be a super heel.

He won’t lose any respect from fans for losing, and it will make them hate Punk more.

This would lead to an extended feud at Extreme Rules, and it is the best thing WWE can do now that the new Nexus has been disbanded.

Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole with Jack Swagger

6 of 10

Cole needs to lose.

Not in a Vince McMahon/Bret Hart fashion, but he needs to lose.

It also needs to be at the hands of Jerry Lawler, not Stone Cold or Jack Swagger.

Stone Cold and Swagger should have a brief altercation, but not so much that it takes away from the actual match.

There is also a danger of the match going on too long, so they need to be careful of that.

This needs to end Cole’s heel run.

The Undertaker vs. Triple H

7 of 10

19-0. This is a given.

Undertaker isn’t ready to give up yet, and to end the streak before 20-0 would be a gross miscalculation by WWE.

This opens Undertaker up to a new challenge or a rematch next year.

The Miz vs. John Cena

8 of 10

The Miz has a customised belt and has a chance to show he can win cleanly on the big stage.

If Cena wins, there needs to be an impromptu match between the Rock and Cena for the title.

Not in Bret Hart/Yokozuna/Hulk Hogan fashion, but both decent matches with almost equal time for each.

This is fairly unlikely, as Cena won’t wrestle for 40 minutes, but it would be exciting to see Rock win the title, Cena to beat the Rock and Miz in one night or the Miz to win cleanly.

WWE can’t really go wrong here. I hope I’m not speaking too soon.

Edge with Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio with Brodus Clay

9 of 10

This match could have changed by tonight, but as far as the audience is concerned, this is how it is going to be.

I really don’t want either of them to win, but for WWE to capitalise on this, they need Edge to win so Christian can feud with him.

This could result in Triple Threat matches and even Fatal 4-Way matches for the title at Extreme Rules.

If Alberto Del Rio wins, they could shove him into a feud with Sin Cara for the title, who is the only guy I can think of that would make a successful feud with Del Rio.

If Edge wins, there are more options to play with.

Don't Let Us Down, WWE!

So there you have it, Bleachers—how the WWE could make the most of their current WrestleMania card.

If you agree or disagree with any of my points, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below and explain what you would do differently.

I enjoy responding and discussing these issues with you.
