Royce Gracie, the first man to win the Ultimate Fighting Championship back in November of 1993, is getting his due as the UFC is set to release their "Ultimate Royce Gracie" DVD special, available May 10, according to mmajunkie.com.

Royce Gracie, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist a part of the famous Gracie family, has a 14-2-3 overall MMA record. His notable fights include bouts against Ken Shamrock, Gerard Gorgeau, Kimo Leopoldo and Dan Severn. Royce Gracie went on to win three UFC tournament titles at UFC 1, UFC 2 and UFC 4. Gracie was known for taking down opponents much larger than him, due to his background in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the art of fighting centered around submissions designed for smaller individuals to take down opponents that may be larger than them. Gracie holds the record for most submissions wins in the UFC, which stands at 11.

Inducted into the UFC Hall Of Fame in November 2003 at UFC 45: Revolution, which was the 10-year anniversary show, he was one of the first inductees next to Ken Shamrock. He is considered to be one of the top legends MMA has ever seen and a true pioneer of the sport

UFC President Dana White said in a official release, "He is the Godfather. He is the man who started it all, and we all bow down and kiss the ring of Royce Gracie."

The DVD set will include his memorable fights from the UFC's early days and also behind the scenes footage with interviews.

Gracie's last fight was a rematch of his 2000 90-minute Pride Grand Prix fight against Kazushi Sakuraba, which he won. However, he failed his urinalysis for anabolic steroids, something he disputed in May of 2009. Nevertheless, Gracie is currently looking to fight on the UFC card when they return to Brazil, an event that is scheduled for August 27 of this year.
