TNA News: Dixie Carter's Twitter Account Suspended
Several sources, including Wrestling News World, are reporting that Twitter has suspended Dixie Carter's account, @TNADixie. The reason for the suspension is violation of one of Twitter's policies.
The policy in question has to do with the misuse of Twitter's badges. Dixie's wallpaper recently changed, stating that she had a "Verified Account," meaning that Twitter researched and verified that the person is who they say they are. These badges are primarily used with celebrities.
In case you are not on Twitter, here is the info from their Terms of Service page:
"Misuse of Twitter Badges: You may not use a Verified Account badge or Promoted Products badge unless it is provided by Twitter. Accounts using these badges as part of profile pictures, background images, or in a way that falsely implies affiliation with Twitter will be suspended."
This is yet another blow to TNA as the organization continues to have negative press. Granted, this is in no way as serious as the Jeff Hardy incident or Kurt Angle's arrest.
However, this is something that could have been avoided, especially since most people will not be checking to see if Dixie Carter's account is verified.
I completely understand this badge, as people do not want to be misrepresented. However, for lower-level celebrities like Carter, this badge seems like just a vanity thing.
