San Francisco 49ers: Top 5 Guys Niners Fans Should Follow on Twitter
Social networking has become a huge part of the media. Outlets like Twitter have given celebrities a way to connect with the general public. In the sports world, fans gain insight into the daily lives of athletes and important sports figures.
Twitter also gives users the opportunity to gain information from journalists on their favorite teams. This slideshow is a list that composes the top five guys every 49ers fan should follow. It's guys who have insider information who know the team backwards.
@SFChron_sports is, in my opinion, the most up to date twitter account for all things Bay Area sports. Certainly worth following if you are interested in multiple sports, as I'm sure most of you are.
Most fans on Twitter probably already follow their favorite athletes, and most people on here probably already follow the Bleacher Report NFL page at BR_NFL, but for fans who like to stay informed and in the loop, you would be doing yourself a grave injustice by not following these guys. I would like to think my 12 followers @ASU52 find my tweets valuable, but I don't hold a candle to anyone on this list. Here is the top five.
5: @NinersNation
1 of 5
Niners Nation is a fan page from SB Nation. Like Bleacher Report, Niners Nation has a team who know the 49ers inside and out. They have great ideas and provide interesting mock drafts. They constantly tweet out up to date information on the team and their website gives fans a place to debate and speculate. Niners Nation does a lot of the dirty work in the research department so you don't have to.
4: @49ers
2 of 5The 49ers' team page constantly pumps out information on how the team is doing, what various news outlets are saying, and present articles that can be found on the team page. Nobody has the in-depth interviews the team page has, but everything read there has to be taken with a grain of salt.
As is the case with any team page, the 49ers want to put the best possible spin on every story. They also provide fun videos like this that bring you inside the locker room. Skip to 4:58 to see the best dance in 49ers' locker room history.
3: @ESPN_NFCWest
3 of 5This is ESPN blogger Mike Sando's Twitter account. Not only does Sando provide an in-depth look at the 49ers, he is an expert in all things NFC West. Part of being an informed fan is knowing the competition. Sando is investigative in his reporting and provides fair assessments of the information he gathers. If you want to know where the 49ers stand from an unbiased source, this is the account to follow.
2: @mattbarrows
4 of 5Matt Barrows writes for the Sacramento Bee. He covers the 49ers exclusively, so you aren't getting a mad garb of unnecessary tweets. He can be lighthearted, but always delivers cutting edge info. He is a dependable source and a great read.
1: @MaioccoCSN
5 of 5Matt Maiocco exhausts just about every angle you could possibly think of for 49ers football, making him the perfect person to follow for the die hard fan. He knows the locker room inside and out and puts countless hours into research to put forth for CSN Bay Area. He does a great job at interacting with fans on both facebook and twitter. Don't be surprised if your questions posed on social networks are addressed in his mailbag.
