USA vs Paraguay: Oscar Cardozo Numbs the Indivisible with Shock Goal

The United States men's soccer team faced Paraguay at the LP Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. The star forward for the game was Juan Agudelo after his equalizer against Argentina.

The reason was the hope that the USA could win or equalize with Agudelo.

The FIFA Coca Cola Classification for the US soccer team is in 19th place with 894 points. Paraguay is in 24th place with 835 points.

First Half

The US and Paraguay struggled for supremacy with both teams on offense and defense. Paraguay scored the first goal with Oscar Cardozo within 18 minutes.

Cardozo received the ball from a corner kick and was able to kick it within the center of the goal post. Paraguay was able to maintain the initiative and possession of the ball.

Paraguay also received the first yellow card. The USA attempted to play catch up without success.

The first half ended with Paraguay enjoying a one point advantage.

Second Half

The second half started with the background music by Bruce Springsteen, called "Born In The USA".

Paraguay maintained its lead but the US attempted to equalize many times without success. Paraguay attempted to increase its lead but the ball was blocked by the goalkeeper.

The standoff between the two countries was palpable with both teams (including supporters) were losing patience.

The teams started to make some tactical mistakes such as Dempsey of the USA attempting a goal. The result was that he kicked the ball towards the center and it went over the goal post.

Landon Donovan attempted to find electricity in another goal attempt but he kicked the ball out of bounds.

Paraguay finally defeated the USA at its home turf after a prolonged match.
