Elite XC's Oct. 4 Fights: Previews and Predictions
Elite XC Predictions Oct 4 2008
Oct. 3, 2008
Last month, I made the greatest prediction of ALL TIME!! I called the Rashad Evans vs. The Iceman fight. I'm pretty sure the payout was sweet to whomever read my prediction for that fight.
But anyway, what an exciting weekend for MMA, sort of. This weekend is the CBS Elite XC event, with headliner Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock and the comeback of Andrei Arlovski, one of my favorite fighters. So this week’s event should be pretty interesting and exciting.
Gina Carano vs. Kelly Kobald
I don’t know much about these women fighters, only that Gina Carano is HOT! In her last fight, she claimed she was out of shape and 15 lbs. overweight but somehow managed to KO her opponent.
Since that last fight, she has worked on her conditioning and managed to make weight. Gina is well rounded in jiu-jitsu and kickboxing. I see her dominating this fight, but she keeps this standing up against Kelly Kobald.
Prediction: Gina Carano (-600) KO in second round.
Anderi Arlovski vs. Roy Nelson
Anderi “The Pitbull” Arlovski has finally brought his name back into the MMA. There's really not much to say about Arlovski, just that he is a BADASS. Arlovski had an amazing win versus Ben Rothwell in Affliction.
Although the fight showed a slow and sloppy Pitbull, he still came out strong and with a KO. Anderi will come into this fight better conditioned and a lot faster. I see him coming in fast against Roy Nelson and winning this in the first round with a KO.
Jake Shields vs. Paul Daley
Jake Shields is the first Welterweight Champion in Elite XC, and he is going up against Paul Daley. Both are extremely tough fighters. Jake Shields has a strong jiu-jitsu background, and Paul has a strong boxing background.
Both fighters have their advantages. Jake Shields will take this fight to the ground and control Paul Daley throughout the match. Jake Shields wins in submission
Prediction: Jake Shields (-600) 2nd round submission
Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock
This is probably the most talked-about fight ever, since it was announced a while back. Finally, Kimbo Slice gets a real MMA fighter to test his streetfighting skills. Although, Shamrock has not won a fight since his days when UFC had no rules.
It's hard not to pick the guy with experience, but let's face it: Ken Shamrock is old. If Ken is smart enough, he will take this fight to the ground, but since Kimbo is all muscle, it would be hard for the 44-year old Shamrock to shoot at him.
I see Kimbo avoiding Shamrock’s takedowns and keeps this match standing up. Kimbo will knock out Ken Shamrock in the first round.
Prediction: Kimbo Slice with first-round KO.
