Michael Bisping Wants Chael Sonnen, Calls Out Nate Marquardt
It didn't take long for Michael Bisping (or as Chael Sonnen calls him "Michael Spitsbing") to respond to his haters in the middleweight division.
Sonnen called out Bisping in an e-mail to UFC matchmaker, Joe Silva, requesting to fight the British middleweight.
"If you get a chance to talk with him, please mention to your idiot-in-residence Michael Spitsbing it’ll be a little tougher to knee ME in the head when I’m charging at him like a runaway train and mincing him through the fence like a boiled potato, should we ever have the pleasure of each other’s company for a few (VERY few) moments in the Octagon," Sonnen said in the e-mail.
"Oh; and I’d suggest to him being a little careful about spitting on any of MY cornermen, since any one of them can beat him up as badly as I can. Thanks ever so much. Hope all is well," Sonnen concluded.
Since the e-mail got loose and Bisping committed major MMA party fouls at UFC 127 in Australia, fans and media have been calling for Sonnen to teach Bisping a lesson.
Well, now Bisping thinks that's a good idea.
"I want to fight Chael Sonnen—he is without a doubt the guy that I want to fight next. I want to fight Chael Sonnen because he's an amazing fighter. When he fought last, he looked fantastic, and I want to challenge myself," Bisping said in an interview with Ariel Helwani. "He's the number two-ranked middleweight in the world. Obviously I can't fight number one [Anderson Silva] because I’ve got to earn a title shot, so I want to fight the number two guy to do that."
Bisping didn't stop at Sonnen. Bisping went straight for the throat of top middleweight, Nate Marquardt. At UFC open workouts before UFC 128, Marquardt discussed Bisping with the media.
"I would just love to fight that guy. Just to punch him in his mouth, shut him up, that'd be nice," Marquardt said after the UFC's open workouts. "He's a total punk, no respect."
Well, of course that got under the skin of Bisping, who took what Marquardt said and ran with it.
"Regarding Nate Marquardt, he has been talking a lot of trash about me recently. That guy, he's quite a hypocrite. He's a steroid cheat, let's not forget that. He's had points taken away for illegally kneeing people himself, and then he goes out talking about me as if I'm Satan or something. The guy's an absolute hypocrite," Bisping said.
If you thought Bisping would stop just there in his attacks on Maruqardt, well, you would be dead wrong. Bisping continued his attack.
"He s--- the bed every time he's in a main event. He's had three number one contender fights and a title shot and lost them all. I want to fight the top guys and I think Chael Sonnen for me is the biggest possible name I could get, and that's what I'm hoping for… Nate Marquardt doesn't excite me," Bisping concluded.
Helwani brought up the possibility of Bisping and Sonnen being the next Ultimate Fighter coaches with a planned meeting in December. Bisping's response? "I love the sound of that, let's do it."
Sonnen is currently waiting for his sentencing hearing that was moved from yesterday to April 8th.
As for Jorge Rivera, Bisping denied any intentional malice in the illegal knee and spitting at his corner. Bisping is sticking to his story that he didn't spit their way.
