UFC 129: Jake Shields Brings in Help to Prepare for Match with Georges St-Pierre

Jake Shields (26-4-1) has brought in some help to extend his 15-fight winning streak and help him obtain the UFC welterweight title.

During the UFC Fight Night 24 broadcast on Spike TV, Shields spoke with UFC color commentator Joe Rogan about his upcoming match with Georges St-Pierre.

"So far things are going great, camp's going good," said Shields, adding, "We've got Chael Sonnen coming out this week, things are going good. I'm pushing, I'm in great shape. I'm just excited, I'm ready to go."

Not only has Shields brought in Sonnen, but he has also brought in another fighter, Matt Lindland.

"Picking up [Lindland] and [Sonnen] at the airport, then off to some Sunday sparring," Shields said via his Twitter account.

Shields is looking to cause his second title upset in a year. Last year, Shields upset Dan Henderson to retain his Strikeforce middleweight title and send Henderson looking at a different division to win a title.

Shields, even as the underdog, is still confident in his ability to upset GSP.

"I'm excited, this is a fight I've wanted for years," he said. "I've been champ for multiple other shows—that's all great and I'm proud of that—but the UFC's always been the show that I wanted to be at.

"These other titles are great, but my eye has always been on the UFC and Georges St-Pierre, you know, he's had the belt for the last three or four years. He's the guy I've wanted to fight and I've finally got that opportunity, and I couldn't be more excited. I can't just wait to go out there and get it on next month."

Shields seems prepared as ever, though, for the war and heat GSP will be bringing to the Rogers Centre in Toronto on April 30.

"It's going to be an all-out war, you know Georges is a great fighter," said Shields. "He's one of the best out there without a doubt. I think it's going to be an all-out fight. It's probably going to go into the later rounds, but I see myself getting him down and submitting him at some point."
