World No. 2 Kim Clijsters defeated 27th seed Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, and is closer to defending her title at the Sony Ericsson Open.

It was the 500th win in her long career, as she made it to the fourth round to play 19th-seeded Ana Ivanovic after Virginie Razzano retired from their match.

Clijsters has two Miami titles from 2005 and 2010 to protect. She does not seem to be playing at top form with many errors and may still be suffering from the shoulder injury that took her out of the BNP Paribas Open last week.

Clijsters said, "I mean, it's not fully healed, but it's, you know, healing. I think that's to me the biggest relief at the moment."

She is always in the debate of the world No. 1 madness, as she has more Grand Slam titles, but while Slam-less, Caroline Wozniacki has remained consistent on the tour. Do you agree with the rankings?

For the rest of the gals on their Day 6, the top seeds stayed true to form, as third seed Vera Zvonareva, fifth seed Francesca Schiavone, ninth seed Agnieszka Radwanska and 15th seed Marion Bartoli all won. The only exception so far is 17th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova beating 12th seed Petra Kvitova 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-0.
