WWE's The Corre
When Wade Barrett first jumped over to Smackdown, many of us believed the former leader of The Nexus would be on his own.
This wouldn't be the case, as over the coming weeks Barrett was joined by former Nexus members; Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater, as well as Smackdown returnee: Ezekiel Jackson.
That said, WWE could have done something different. Maybe picked some of the talent that is wallowing on Superstars to join Barrett in taking over Smackdown, regardless of past associations, or lack thereof with The Nexus. A lot of guys could use a jump to the Blue Brand.
Especially considering how things have gotten so bad for The Corre as of late, being buried by Big Show and company twice, as well as the run in they had with The Rock and John Cena.
The following is a list of guys who could work well in The Corre, with a surprise candidate at the end.
Trent Barreta and Curt Hawkins/The Dudebusters
1 of 7These two, along with Caylen Croft, teamed as a stable version of The Dudebusters in FCW, and since then have been billed as former friends turned rivals.
So, who better to team with than someone who knows your tendencies? Add to the fact Trent is jobbing on Smackdown and Hawkins is M.I.A, becoming The Corre's resident tag team would be a big help for the duo, especially considering that Superstars is canceled.
With careers potentially on the line this would be the best thing that could happen to Trent and Curt.
Tyler Reks
2 of 7The Nexus had Skip Sheffield. The New Nexus had Mason Ryan. The Corre could have used Tyler Reks. He fits the role of a monster well. With the dreads, he looks like a real beast and would make a great silent enforcer type for Wade Barrett.
Add to that, he has a bit of big match experience from his Smackdown debut in the Survivor Series and Bragging Rights matches. He's not the best on the mic, but that's what Barrett excels at so being in the Corre, Reks would have his bases covered.
The Usos
3 of 7The Usos have been doing nothing on RAW as of late. I can't even fathom why they debuted on RAW anyway. They could have feuded with The Dynasty on Smackdown since the tag titles are unified, but I digress.
The Usos are an interesting group. They work well in being brothers and have something of an original gimmick, being modern-day Samoans, though they don't really follow up with that. I believe, given the chance, The Usos could shine on Smackdown as The Corre's Tag Team specialists.
A move to The Blue Show would help as being with Wade Barrett could give the two some credibility as they work themselves toward a Tag Title and a chance to forge a legacy for themselves.
Vladimir Kozlov
4 of 7Back to looking for a powerhouse, here's a man who debuted and was crushing people with headbutts, (and he wasn't even wearing a protective mask.)
Vladimir Kozlov has been reduced now to using his Russian accent for laughs instead of intensity. What a waste. However, joining Barrett in The Corre could help him get back the intensity that he lost. I'm not saying he should go back to using the headbutt as a finisher. (The Iron Curtain is way better.)
Vlad is not funny. He's a serious competitor. At one point, he was looking to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania. At this point, I find that thought laughable. Maybe joining the Corre would be able to make someone think that high of him and a good way of doing that is taking people out. Something he would have no problems doing in The Corre.
Byron Saxton and Percy Watson
5 of 7Don't ask me where I got this from, but I was looking at FCW and the thought of teaming these two up just kind of hit me.
I suppose they could make a pretty interesting tag team. I don't see a gimmick for them, but I suppose they could do some decent promos. Neither is bad on the mic and both can wrestle. Two of the best to ever be on NXT, in my opinion, but yeah, totally random, and this wasn't even the big shocker I was planning. That's next though.
Surprise: It's Layla!
6 of 7I got to thinking something. A lot of dominant groups in WWE tend to never have a female in the group to go after the female title. I think it would be pretty interesting to have a Diva in The Corre.
So, I thought, well Layla is European and not a bad wrestler. At the point when The Corre was formed, she was one-half of Lay-Cool, but if that were to never take off, I believe The Corre would be a good way to go for Layla.
Being in the group would make her relevant, she'd get more TV Time as well. Layla is an underestimated wrestler in my opinion, isn't bad on the mic, and in fact, having a member of the Divas division being in The Corre could help spark interest in the Divas Division.
The End
7 of 7Well, that about wraps it up. Any comments, other suggestions on who would have made good members of The Corre are welcome. Thanks for viewing.
