NHL Video: Jim Vandermeer vs. Cam Janssen and the Top 5 Fights of Last Week

May 31, 2018

Another fantastic week of hockey is in the books and another group of fights is ready for your viewing pleasure.

As usual, we have some of the heavyweights in the hockey fighting world as well as some newcomers to the fist party.

The fights at this time of the year are always solid and this week didn’t disappoint.

Enjoy!

5. Theo Peckham vs. Ryan Reaves

1 of 5

We don’t waste any time here and the boys are off and brawling as the puck drops.

Notice that both teams are out of contention and these players seem to be fighting for a job next season as well as their teammates.

While the fight shows that both men can throw hard shots, I don’t like that Reaves hits Peckham while he’s down.

4. Jared Boll vs. Paul Bissonnette

2 of 5

That’s right; when Paul Bissonnette isn’t tweeting he is busy throwing hands on the ice in the desert.

They exchange jabs from the jersey holding hands before Boll catches Bissonnette with a vicious uppercut.

The fight wasn’t great until Boll catches Biz-nasty with a cross and then an uppercut.

3. Ryan White vs. Clayton Stoner

3 of 5

Right off the bat, I didn’t know a lot about either contestant in the Fight is Right in Montreal.

The game just stops and there’s a brawl at center ice, which is never a bad thing.

Ryan White and Clayton Stoner both hold their own against each other and it turns out to be a solid fight overall.

Look out for both players, as they have potential to make the list in the future.

2. Cory Sarich vs. Ryane Clowe

4 of 5

Cory Sarich of Calgary takes a run at a Sharks player and Ryane Clowe takes exception to it.

These are the kind of fights that are more than necessary in the NHL and should never be taken out of the game. These fights are emotion fights.

Clowe is the clear aggressor and has Sarich back on his heels.  Clowe tries to take Sarich's helmet off because he has a visor and doesn’t want to break his hand.

When the plan fails, he starts to land uppercuts under the visor. That wasn’t in the manufacturer’s instructions.

Clowe is the clear winner and expect that this isn’t the last time these two players will meet.

1. Jim Vandermeer vs. Cam Janssen

5 of 5

Cam Janssen is a legitimate heavyweight fighter and Jim Vandermeer isn’t new to the scene either.

They wrap-up, but it’s more because Vandermeer wants to stay away from Janssen's fists.

Janssen lands his usual assault of fists, but Vandermeer holds his own.

The fight goes over a minute and a half, which is a long fight in hockey, and both fights deserve a ton of credit for one of the better fights in awhile.
