Friday Night Fights: Main Event Ends in Majority Draw, Lara Remains Undefeated
Results will be posted for this week's edition of ESPN Friday Night Fights beginning at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
Erislandy Lara (15-0) will be taking on Carlos Molina (17-4-1) in a 10-round light middleweight bout. Lara's last four bouts have all ended in the first round by knockout.
Yudel Jhonson (9-0) also takes on Richard Gutierrez (26-5-1) in a 10-round middleweight bout.
Opening bout: Yudel Jhonson vs. Richard Gutierrez
Round 1—Gutierrez is taking his time warming up and finding his range. Jhonson throwing some nice body shots but doesn’t seem to be committing to them just yet. Gutierrez exclusively throwing left hands and finally throws a right to end the round. 10-9 Jhonson
Round 2—Jhonson lands a solid counter left over Gutierrez’ guard. Halfway through round, and Jhonson is doing well throwing combinations. Gutierrez is looking for one punch; a left hand. Jhonson 10-9
Round 3—Jhonson lands a counter left to open the round. Jhonson throws a double jab and follows with a right that misses. Low blow lands by Jhonson late in the round. Two solid left hands land for the 2004 Cuban Olympic Silver Medalist as the round ends. 10-9 Jhonson
Round 4—Halfway through the round, and Jhonson is clearly winning every exchange. Jhonson gets Gutierrez to the ropes and lands a right hand. Jhonson’s defense is carrying him through this fight untouched. 10-9 Jhonson
Round 5—CompuBox shows Jhonson landing 68 of 198 and Gutierrez landing 30 of 137. Gutierrez just can’t hit the target and Jhonson is getting more comfortable moving around the ring landing counter rights. Jhonson 10-9
Round 6—Close round all the way through. Gutierrez was more aggressive, and Jhonson didn’t throw as much as he did in previous rounds. If Gutierrez gets a round, it’s this one. 10-9 Jhonson
Round 7—Jhonson continues to do cirlces on Gutierrez. Jhonson lands a body shot and right hand that hurts Gutierrez. Gutierrez staggers back to the ropes and the referee quickly jumps in to call a stop to the bout. Replay shows Jhonson landing three shots after Gutierrez goes to the ropes before referee stops the bout. Very fast stoppage but can't really argue.
Jhonson wins via TKO at 1:09 in round seven.

Second Bout: Jose Luis Herrera (16-10) vs. Yunier Dorticos (11-0)
Dorticos wins via TKO at 2:36 in round two.
Main Event: Erislandy Lara vs. Carlos Molina
Round 1—Good round for Molina. He pressured Lara well in the opening round where Lara is most dangerous. 10-9 Molina
Round 2—First time Lara has seen second round in five fights. Molina is doing well pressuring Lara with a busy attack. Lara lands a good counter left, and Molina returns with two body shots. Close round. 10-9 Molina
Round 3—Molina’s body shots may be the key to him winning this fight. He is landing his best shots in the round while Lara is looking for an uppercut. Lara throws it almost every time Molina jumps in. 10-9 Molina
Round 4—Power punches through three rounds: Lara 19/75, Molina 39/110. Lara may have to go into desperation mode if this fight keeps going the way it is. Molina is avoiding Lara’s power shots and landing the better combinations. Lara makes a good comeback late in the round, landing good body shots of his own. Close round. 10-9 Lara
Round 5—Lara catches Molina as he falls against the ropes. He is coming out fast this round, and it’s helping him establish some pressure of his own. Molina is the one making a comeback this time. Another close round. 10-9 Lara
Round 6—A minute through and nothing clean has really landed for either boxer. Lara throws a combination on Molina as he goes against the ropes. Molina lands a solid uppercut to end the round. Great end for Molina. He pressured the Cuban boxer the entire round. 10-9 Molina
Round 7—Molina’s work rate carries him through the seventh. Lara will need to pick up the pace going into the last three rounds. 10-9 Molina
Round 8—Lara continues to not throw, and Molina is all over him with pressure. Molina isn’t landing too many clean blows, but his work rate is so much higher. Molina lands a left hand that rocks Lara late in the round. 10-9 Molina
Round 9—Lara lands a left hand late in the round that wobbles a visibly tired Molina. Lara’s best round of the fight. He needs to go all out in the tenth. 10-9 Lara
Round 10—Lara lands another left hand to open the round but backs off as Molina opens up. Two minutes to go, and Lara is throwing looping left hands. A left hand lands on Molina’s chin. Lara has made a decent comeback but needs a knockdown. A minute to go and Molina lands a short uppercut. 10-9 Lara
TOTAL 96-94 Molina
Judges score it 97-93 Molina, 95-95 and 95-95 for a majority draw.
