UFC 128 Results: MC Hammer Likens Jon Jones to a Young Michael Jordan

MC Hammer, former pop rapper who came into prominence during the late 1980s and 90s, is now active in the fight world as CEO of Alchemist Management.

Hammer was live at UFC 128, supporting some of his Alchemist fighters, and had some high praise for the new Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon Jones.

"I think we saw a transition tonight. You know, a transition of a new generation of fighter....

"Jon's delivery reminds you, if you were to use a parallel, the way that Michael Jordan played basketball when he was young. You knew right away that these guys can't stop him—he can score at will. Well it's kind of the same way with Jon's offensive game. He strikes at will. He has a ton of off-balance tricks...."

Despite all of the hype around Jon Jones's recent ascension into stardom, there is only a tiny contingent of the most cynical of fans who attempt to denounce his greatness.

From an offensive stand-point, Anderson Silva, the most successful champion in UFC history, is the only man who appears to match Jones's creativity and unpredictability at the highest levels.

Now the reigning champion in the division made famous by Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell, Jones looks to reinstate the division's prominence and bring about a new level of stardom and commercial viability to the sport as a whole. 

You wanna be like Mike? How about you wanna "be on like Jon." No? We'll see.
