Tampa Bay Buccaneers Owner Joel Glazer Is Excited and He Should Be

Well folks, one member of the goodly Glazer clan is very excited about this up-and-coming 2011 Tampa Bay Buccaneer varsity squad. 

Joel Glazer really likes this team. Imagine that.

No doubt he's excited about sitting in his nifty luxury box again this fall. You see, he's assuring all of us that there WILL be an NFL season this year.

Imagine that.

Takes a load of your mind, doesn't it?

Here's what the jovial Joel said:

"I am so excited about where our team is and where we're headed. Ticket sales have been strong. They were strong in January, strong in February and they haven't stopped. There's going to be a 2011 season and our fans are excited about the Bucs."

Oh Joel, you're so wonderful. Does this mean an end to all those nasty Glazer-approved blackouts?

Notice there was nothing in his declaration about that.

Now, about that excitement, you've all been wondering about the upcoming draft and perhaps, just perhaps, they might have let Joel take a peek at the draft board, don't 'ya think?

And here's another reason Joel G (no relation to Kenny G) is excited: he and the brothers grim don't have to fork out the kind of money they did to last year's third overall pick, the "Mighty" Gerald McCoy.

So while we follow all the doom and gloom concerning this lockout nonsense, just take heart in the fact at Joel G has told you that there will be a season. Now, he didn't say what type of season there might be but one would think with his level of excitement that it doesn't include scabs taking the place on the fall roster of guys like Josh Freeman.

Holy Manchester United!

Come to think of it, that's probably another reason Joel is whistling Dixie. The Brits were floating those weekly rumors that the kickball team across the pond has some noodle-heads chomping at the bit to fork over about $2 BILLION to the Glazers. But alas, Man-You is not for sale, they tell us.

Perhaps Joel is feeling excited because he's been using the workout room over there at One Buc. He might as well because the fellas can't, you know, the guys that he is so excited about.

So for now, it's really, really great that ownership is so very excited.
