Carson Palmer Needs to Take His Talents to South Beach, Become a Miami Dolphin

Carlos SandovalMar 22, 2011

In case you Bleacher-heads didn't realize, Carson Palmer asked for a trade out of Cincinnati. The leverage? He'll retire, and the Bengals get nothing in return.

And, of course, when a top 10 quarterback says he wants out, there's speculation like crazy.

So here I am, ready to speculate, formulate and thinkulate with you. My answer to where this guy should go, rather than where this guy will go is obvious, if you read the title of this post. You'd know it's the Miami Dolphins.

Really, Carson Palmer's best shot at not being on a consistently sucky team would end up being in Miami. It's no secret that the Fins have a ton of talent. It's also no secret that the current Dolphins' quarterback—Chad Henne—sucks.

Carson Palmer wants to win. His fans want to see him win. The Dolphins want to win. And while there could be a hefty price to pay for a top quarterback, it's definitely worth it.

The Dolphins' most glaring hole involves the friggin' quarterback, where key plays are not made, and redzone offense is the worst, while Brandon Marshall gets gassed at the end of drives, because Henne seems to think the only feasible wideout he can throw to is Marshall.

Carson Palmer can spread the defense, and he's not afraid to shy away from rarely-used targets. He has a strong arm and is ridiculously confident, something Henne needs to develop.

Sure, you can always go the let-him-develop-and-see-what-happens route. But with one of the most opportunistic defenses in the league, a running game that features a dominant offensive line and a solid set of receivers, I'm pretty sure the Dolphins realize that—in three years—their window of opportunity would be increasingly smaller.

With the talent they have, why not go after a player like Palmer to put you over the top?

Then again, it's not as if the Bengals have no say in where Palmer goes. They dictate where he gets traded and what they get in return.

And where he should go and where he will go is a different animal, altogether. And while he should go to Miami, he might not end up where he needs to be.
