Michel Platini Re-Elected for Second Term as UEFA President

Michel Platini has just been re-elected to a second term as UEFA President. He has been the head of UEFA since taking over for Lennart Johansson in 2007.

He thanked the various Football (Soccer) Associations (FA) for his reelection. He also talked about his achievements and promised to protect the future of football.

Platini ran unopposed for the position and has achieved major reforms since becoming President. The following were:

1. Introduction of Financial Fair Play Rules For Clubs

2. The creation of opportunities for teams from small nations to participate in the UEFA Champions League.

The events are taking place as this article is being written during the XXXV Ordinary UEFA Congress. The other positions for elections are the UEFA Executive Committee and the FIFA Executive Committee.

The Congress will also tackle approving the reports of the UEFA President and Executive Committee, as well as Administration.

The next subjects that will be discussed are the UEFA Administration, as well as the Strategic Financial Outlook, Financial Accounts, and the 2011-2012 Budget.
