Florida State Seminole Uprising: Why FSU Is Poised To Rule Again

Larry BurtonMar 21, 2011

Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) After the longest run in the top five in NCAA final polls, things started cooling off in Tallahassee. It seemed that the team was losing steam much like its beloved Hall-of-Fame coach.

Mickey Andrews had family problems that caused distractions and then his eventual retirement, and the stout Florida State defense was floundering.

In all, the program had just run out of steam. They were bound to after such a long run, but even as fate assured them the pendulum would eventually swing away from the success they had earned, it appears to finally be swinging back.

Jimbo Fisher knows that offense alone won't get the Seminoles back to where they belong, and he has helped bring in some physical specimens to give the Noles some much needed muscle again. They are a young team at most all positions.

Terrance Parks at safety is the only senior on defense projected to start at this time. This is a young fast defense that could remind fans of defenses from years gone by.

Though Ponder is gone, the offense still looks capable and like the defense, new players should surprise. There is only one senior projected as a starter on the offense and that is senior Taiwan Easterling, a receiver.

This is a young offense who can pack a punch this year and be a terror next year.

At the end of last season, Fisher was asked how long till the Seminoles would rule the ACC again?

"We have to ingrain in the boys that now is the time, that we can win this coming season. The future is today," Fisher said.

Indeed, it may very well be.

With a favorable schedule as they have, there may only be one game they could play where they may be the underdog, and that is week three against Oklahoma.

The time could be right for a Seminole uprising again.
