UFC 128 Results: Jon Jones vs. Anderson Silva Next?

Sal DeRoseMar 20, 2011

Now here it is, the one thing that could de-rail a matchup between Anderson Silva versus Georges St-Pierre mega-fight, a Anderson Silva versus Jon Jones mega-fight.

And just like Silva versus GSP, everyone is starting to throw their two cents in.

"Bones vs. Silva? Who wants it?" said Lorenzo Fertitta, co-owner of the UFC and CEO of Zuffa, the UFC's parent company via his Twitter account.

After watching last night's fight of Jones absolutely decimating Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, the internet went ablaze with commentary not only on his win, but of the only man anyone thinks could beat him, Silva.

Right after the main event was over and Jones claimed UFC gold UFC president, Dana White, was bombarded with questions and suggestions of a super-fight between Jones and Silva.

"About 75 people," White said when asked how many people have already suggested the fight at the post-fight press conference. "Anderson is clear that he doesn't want to fight at 205, but maybe now that Jones is champ, we'll see."

Silva has come out and said that he would not like to fight at light heavyweight for the title. But now that friend, Shogun, has been de-throned, does that mean Silva comes in and tries to de-rail the Jon Jones hype train that has become so out of control?

Many fans would love to see the two champions fight one another, and many believe the great MMA legend, Silva, is the only man that could equal out Jones. Still, even some UFC fighters have started talking about this potential mega-fight.

"I don't want to see Rashad Evans and Jones. I want to see Silva vs. Jones," middleweight fighter, Vitor Belfort said via his Twitter account.

Not only Belfort, but welterweight Diego Sanchez has also started talking.

"That's a masterpiece in the works, get it done! RT@lorenzofertitta: Bones vs. Silva? Who wants it?" Sanchez said on his Twitter account.

The earliest this fight could happen is 2012 after a Silva versus Yushin Okami fight happens sometime this year.

Whatever happens, the UFC has two mega-fights fans, fighters and even the owner want to see.
