WWE Analysis: The Kidd('s Credibility) is Dead

Tyson JonesMar 18, 2011

Tyson Kidd probably won't be doing anything of relevance for the foreseeable future. In fact, he looks like he may very well be gone after WrestleMania. It's truly a shame. For those of you who don't know what I mean I'll explain.

On the March 10th, 2011 edition of WWE Superstars, the main event was William Regal, Tyson Kidd and Melina against Mark Henry, The Great Khali, and Natalya. During most of the match, Kidd bit off more than he could chew, trying to tangle with the likes of Henry and whenever he saw he was in trouble, would throw Regal or Melina to the wolves, until finally, both had had enough. Kidd was left to deal with The Great Khali, and you can guess how that went.

Yep. With Kidd taking the Punjabi Plunge, but wait, it gets better. Mark Henry added on with the World's Strongest Splash, Natalya adding insult and injury to more injury with The Sharp Shooter, and William Regal putting Kidd in The Regal Stretch. As if it couldn't get any worse, the show closed with Kidd getting a hard smack in the face by Melina.

I can't even begin to imagine why WWE would subject one of it's most gifted performers to this kind of embarrassment. I don't read dirt sheets, so maybe he's done something I'm not aware of, but when you get forced to tap out by a Diva, it kind of sends a sign from higher up that they apparently don't really think much of you.

It's sad to think that a man who could have been a real contender for the United States Championship was reduced to being fodder for several guys far beyond their best years. William Regal has been open about his retirement, Mark Henry has nothing more to do but put people over and Great Khali...well, he may not be on his way out, but honestly, he's not all that important right now.

I hate to think that WWE might be giving up on Tyson. Honestly, I believe he has what it takes to at least have an upper mid-card spot. The only thing stopping him from making it farther is his size. He also seemed to have average mic skills, but if given the chance, I can see him improve. Sadly, I don't think WWE sees it like that.

It's tough to believe WWE has reduced Tyson to jobbing to Great Khali and Mark Henry. Especially when you consider he's pinned some impressive people. He once pinned The Miz, and even made him tap out.

He later pinned another former United States champion in a tag team match in Danial Bryan. A former Tag Team Champion now losing to Santino Marella and getting slapped around by Divas. Even being tossed around by Hornswoggle of all people at the 2011 Royal Rumble. Tragic.

The worst part about this, is that Tyson Kidd has so much potential; He just isn't used right. Everyone knows it was a mistake to break up the Hart Dynasty, but I had faith that Tyson Kidd could make it on his own. Then I saw he was the heel in all this.

Not that he can't play it, but it would have been better to have him as the face against a heel David Hart Smith. WWE, for some reason, believed he'd make a better heel, and while I see he can do it, I think it would have been much better to make him a face.

His program with Danial Bryan would have been a lot more interesting if a "Respect for each others' ability" storyline was the center. Even as a heel, he could have been a great opponent for Danial Bryan. Both are great technical high-flyers and before this, saw the two of them as big names in the future.

Maybe I'm the only one that sees it like this, but I really hope this is not indicative of what WWE has in store for Tyson Kidd. If it is, I say he may just be better off leaving. Maybe going to TNA to maybe do something about with the X-Division. I've seen several other companies such as Dragon Gate and ROH. Hopefully, things turn around for Tyson, but after this, I don't know if they can.
