UFC 128 Fight Card: The Best Pictures of Shogun Rua from Around the Internet
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will be the center of the MMA world come Saturday night at UFC in the main event of the evening.
His light heavyweight title bout with challenger Jon "Bones" Jones, is huge for the legacy of the former PRIDE champion.
Around the Internet, there are numerous photos of the UFC light heavyweight champion. Some funny, some serious, some show the power that the champion holds.
Now here they are, the top photos of Shogun Rua.
Shogun and Machida

It's a really cool picture displaying Shogun with a serious pose and on top of that, basically destroying the face of Lyoto Machida.
It's got the samurai swords for his nickname (Shogun is a military rank for a military dictator in old Japan). Hence the samurai in the background.
It's pretty cool and the fact that it has him wrecking Machida makes it better. He deserved to win that first fight.
Shogun Vs. Hiromitsu Kanehara

I feel like this kick is just the most awkward-looking thing ever.
This dates way back to his PRIDE days and ended up in a first-round TKO win for the young Shogun Rua.
After this fight, Shogun improved to 8-1 and went on to win the PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix.
He got some air on this kick, too. Shogun for the win.
Shogun Vs. Kanehara

I feel bad for Kanehara, but this picture is too awesome not to use. I mean, look at the air he got on this jump.
Kanehara got dominated in this fight. Kind of shows you that you don't mess with the greatness of Shogun. Otherwise, he dominates you in several awesome pictures that future generations will see.
Yeah, sorry, Kanehara.
Shogun Vs. Little Nog

Okay, so this picture might be one of Shogun being hit, but look at that punch he took from Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
I mean, if that isn't the definition of tough, then I don't know what is.
Oh yeah, he won that fight by unanimous decision in a tournament where he beat Little Nog, Alistair Overeem and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.
He beat three great fighters, in a row, in an insane tournament for the ages.
Yeah he is definitely a top fighter and accomplished more in that tournament then Jon Jones has in his career.
Shogun Destroying Machida's Face

Look at this punch that Shogun landed. That punch rocked Lyoto Machida. Like Kanehara, Shogun showed the world not to mess with him.
Another awesome picture from their fight.
Shogun won by first-round TKO in this fight, which was a rematch after the judges incorrectly gave Machida the win in their first fight.
That's right, they did it incorrectly. No way Machida deserved the first fight.
Shogun Leaping Punch Against Little Nog

Little Nog was seemingly defenseless against Shogun in this fight. This picture proves that.
Shogun is flying through the air ready to pounce on Little Nog.
Hopefully it isn't just me, but this picture makes me think of a cougar or tiger, some sort of predator, attacking a wounded gazelle or something of that equivalent.
I'm shocked no one took this photo and put a Superman cape on the back of Shogun. He is literally flying in the air.
Shogun Secretly in a Band?

If you thought we were finishing this slideshow without at least one funny picture, well, you were dead wrong.
Watching Machida vs. Shogun live: $100
Buying a new camera to take a picture of the fight: $200
Taking the picture and photoshopping a sombrero and maracas into the picture: Priceless.
"Dude Where's My Belt?"

All right, I'll see you one funny picture and raise you.
Ok, so it's pretty bad Photoshop and it looks like someone just used Paint and put the faces of Machida, Shogun and judge Cecil Peoples into the picture.
But this is pretty funny, nonetheless. Absolutely awesome and pretty much epitomizes how most people felt about Shogun after his first fight with Machida.
Definitely summarizes how Shogun felt.
