NFL Lockout: With Faith, NFL Fans, We Shall Prevail

Levi BerceyMar 16, 2011

It's been official for only a short time, and yet it's already begun to burn. Every NFL fan's worst fear has been realized, and we're just starting to pick our jaws up off the floor.

Lockout. Lockout. Lockout.

Just saying the words, watching the news and hearing the comments, it all stings.

Everyone is screaming in different directions and flocking in herds to post their opinions on some type of forum. You have the cocky fan who will tell you, "It's nothing" and "Don't worry about it." They say it's all a PR war, and we won't miss a single game at all. Hearing that, the negative views will start to surface, and the pessimistic poison will spew from various mouths.

The sky is falling, we won't have a season, players will grow old and the worst of the worst is here.

Does our voice count? Do the fans control any aspect of the situation?

Do we know/understand our NFL fan-hood future? Should we boycott? Should we protest? Is this the end of football as we know it?

Are we stuck in limbo? What's next?

What can we do? What can we do? What can we do #@%&?!

I believe there isn't any correct answer, it's all speculation. Again, you can ask a thousand different fans and get a thousand different opinions on the lockout. Look on the blogs, the message boards, the websites, and you'll get more questions than answers.

The fans have one weapon that is very, very powerful though. It's something no one can take away unless you let them; it's unlimited and it's unaffected if you allow it to be. You can share it, pass it on, blog about it, tweet about it and scream it from the rooftops:

Faith.

Yes, things are going to change, and maybe not for the better. We may miss games, we may have bad blood and it's sure to be awkward. Tough times are ahead, confusion reigns supreme and the NFL is in a state of anarchy.

I ask everyone who is of a positive mind, who believes in thinking good thoughts and who loves football beyond the politics: Just have faith, just believe that things will work themselves out and be optimistic. No matter who you're angry at, no matter which side you hate more, have faith. Go about as if nothing is wrong, put on a united front and they can't break us.

Have faith fellow fans, football is alive and well.
