New Pac-12 Logo Video: Truly a Reason to Party?

Richard LangfordMar 16, 2011

The new logo is here! The new logo is here!

I am so jacked right now I can hardly type. Ever since they announced the Pac-10 was expanding, I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how they could possibly come up with a new logo now that they have two more teams.

It just didn't seem possible. How was the old logo, which is really just the word Pac-10 in a triangle, going to accurately reflect the new additions without losing the classy and hip style of the old logo?

That is just too much creativity to expect from any organization.

Well, go lock yourself in your celebration room because they have done it.

To help celebrate this momentous occasion they have apparently decided to invite the biggest dork with the least amount of rhythm from each school's sports program to come over for a rave/commercial.

As you can see, once the music started (and probably the ecstasy) it was magic.

The hardest part about this glorious video is deciding which fine athlete/actor I like the best. I've narrowed it down to four people. First, the three runners-up:

The guy at the beginning who notices his shoulder has been possessed by the techno music.

The swimmer who is dancing like he has spent his entire life in the pool and not dancing.

The UCLA basketball robot who is trying to dance like a person.

This impressive trio certainly did the impossible and got me even more geeked for the new logo, but they got nothing on the MVP of this shoot.

The 40-year-old ASU football player who is either letting us know he left his hair on the West Side or he is ready to start a gang war with the new far East members of the conference.

Oh yeah, and in the excitement of the video, I almost forgot the brilliance of the new logo. They changed the 10 to a 12. Forget making money off of kids who don't get paid, Pac-10 officials—you guys obviously have a career in art ahead of you.
