2011 NFL Draft: Detroit Lions Breaking News—Who Is There Now?
Here is the latest information about who the Detroit Lions appear to be scouting.
Today, Wednesday, March 15th, will be a busy one in Detroit.
We already know that Prince Amukamara and Cameron Jordan will be meeting with the front office. What we didn't know until today is that the Lions will be holding an individual workout for University of Florida OL Mike Pouncey (according to the Associated Press).

Pouncey can play at either guard or center. Not a huge need for the Lions at this point, but he is definitely worth looking at.
The question: Is Pouncey worth a first-round pick by the Lions?
Several teams have shown interest in taking Pouncey in the first round. If you were to ask Mike where he thinks he will be taken, he would say somewhere in the middle of the first.
Pouncey has the team interest to back him up.
According to Mike, his prediction is due to the "warm meetings and strong feedback from the Miami Dolphins (15th pick), the Jaguars (16th), the Giants (19th) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (20th)" (AP).
The Pittsburgh Steelers, who already have his twin brother Maurkice on the team, have also shown interest, but they don't pick until No. 31. The other known team to have shown interest, and the one Detroit would probably care most about, is the Chicago Bears. However, the Bears hold the 29th pick.
What most coaches and GMs seem to be focused on is not only what he has shown he can do on the field himself—it appears to be equally important that he shares the same DNA as Maurkice.
Maurkice started in all 16 games for the Steelers and made the Pro Bowl as a rookie last year. You certainly can't argue that football isn't in their blood, because it quite clearly is.
The question remains, however, if the Lions will feel he is the best player at 13. If they do pick him, it may be a move on their part to trade for a position of need. They may also investigate how many teams behind them want Pouncey in the first round and negotiate ahead of time with them in order to trade down.
What are your thoughts, Lions fans?
